I don’t know about where you live but in WI snow is melting, the sun is out, and we are getting a sneak peek at Spring around here. And now that it’s finally March I feel like we are truly rounding the bend and that warmer weather is on its way any second here. And with that, I feel like busting out my self tanner, my Medium foundation shades, and blushes to add some color to my cheeks again.
One thing at a time here though, and let’s start with blush. I am really digging nude/brown shades for this season. I’m pretty fair so I have to take a light hand with blush. What I LOVE about a nude blush is that it takes me perfectly to warmer weather. It adds just a touch of warmth to my pale skin right now and fast forward to June when I have a tan and it’s still going to look fabulous. Blushes in the brown/nude family perk my whole face up and really give me a glow, so naturally I’m pretty excited about them! I also find that I play with my eyeshadow colors and lip colors more often than ever in the springtime, and a neutral blush ends up matching any face of makeup that I have on. I can have a cohesive look no matter what I’ve got going on with a nude blush! I have some of my favorite blushes to share with you today.
First I want to talk about the Clinique Cheek Pop blushes. Hello perfection. When these came out a few years ago, I took one peek at them at the Clinique counter, swatched a couple of them and literally said “I’ll take the whole collection.” Granted there were only four at the time, but that’s how much I love these little things. Over the years I’ve collected many more of the colors that have come out and I’m partial to Nude Pop, Melon Pop, and Fig Pop for this season!
Next, you need to know about Becca’s blushes! I have reviewed Nightingale, Lantana, and Hyacinth before (read review) and I am rounding out my collection with Wild Honey (a peachy nude) and Songbird (a peachy pink). I love Becca’s blushes because they are amazingly pigmented to the point where you just need a light dusting. My blush of choice all last summer was their Fig/Opal which I will definitely be replenishing for this season as well!
MAC Cheek Pollen was a January purchase and I haven’t regretted it for a moment. I own a few MAC blushes and I get compliments every time I am wearing one. I love the satiny smooth texture. This particular blush is so beautiful on and it matches with literally any eyeshadow and lip color imaginable! It looks like it might be sold out online but ask your local makeup counter if they are still carrying it, and if not maybe there’s a dupe.
Lastly, I thought I’d cheat and share two options in the pink family that I am loving right now. It Cosmetics CC+ Vitality Brightening Creme Blush was part of a QVC deal (read review) and even though it’s not neutral it is pretty sheer and will still go with lots of different makeup looks. I adore It Cosmetics and I find that of the creme blushes I have owned, theirs ends up lasting longer over time without drying out. The one I linked to above is a different shade than I’m showing (they might not be carrying mine currently!) but I love the formula of the creme blushes as much as I love the color I’m showing you here! If you’re looking for another bright pop of color, may I suggest splurging for the Guerlain Rose Aux Joues Blush Duo from their spring line. I will have my review up shortly where you can see even more of this beautiful blush duo but let me just say everything about this is luxury. I love the freesia scent, I love that there is a dramatic and bright shade paired with a lighter highlighting shade that can be layered or worn separately. If you are looking for something fun and high end for this season, look no further!
I’ve swatched all the shades for you below. They are all so pretty!
Are you finding a favorite amongst your blush stash? Are you shopping for a new blush right now? I’d love to hear some of your favorites. I was in Sephora last night and was eyeing up Majorette. It was so pretty I might go back for it today!
