Thank you to Regency Beauty Institute for sponsoring today’s conversation.
Beauty has always had a huge impact on my life. I’ve always been attracted to pretty things, and to prettifying things. I have always loved doing my hair and my makeup, wearing jewelry, and dressing up ever since I can remember! I can’t remember a time when I wasn’t interested in the beauty industry.
When it came time to go to college, I went a different route than beauty- I opted to become a music teacher. Although that was a career that fulfilled me while I was working in that field, I did always feel like I missed out on being part of the beauty industry. The part of me that loves to open my mailbox and see the newest Allure magazine inside, that is excited for my next hair cut and color, that subscribes to my favorite beauty brands’ mailing lists to see the newest launches, always felt like it had missed out on something by not going to beauty school.
Then, in 2011, I discovered beauty blogging. I instantly felt like the void I had been feeling had been filled. I have worked odd jobs in the beauty industry, at makeup counters, in the past, but never really felt like I had filled the gap until then. I have been blogging about beauty and other topics now for three years this fall and loving every second of it. I am just your average woman- not super glamorous, not super rich, not super fancy by any stretch- and I love beauty products. I love being able to share new products that have come out, favorite beauty products I have discovered, and little useful tidbits with everyone who comes here to read and subscribes.
More so than makeup, I feel most beautiful when I am with my family. On Facebook this week, everyone has been sharing a few pictures in which they feel beautiful. I decided to share some on here with you. Clockwise from the upper left: A few days after my daughter was born I was so filled with love for her. I was at my heaviest besides pregnancy, but also my happiest. The next picture was from our family pictures for our Christmas card last year. We have a great friend in WA who took family pics for us and always made us look great. The next pic is from Jocelyn’s baptism when she was a year old. We were home with family and I was dressed for more family pictures later that afternoon. I loved my outfit and had lost a lot of weight so was feeling great. In the last picture, I am rocking my daughter for a nap in her room last summer. I was enjoying the snuggle time and so was she.
There are so many pictures in which I feel beautiful. Most of them are when my hair and makeup are all done up and I’m in a cute outfit, but the icing on the cake is when I’m in my element and doing something I love, which for me, is spending time with my family. I hope everyone gets to do something they love with their life, which is why I think it’s important to share a video on beauty with you that has really inspired me!
It’s by Regency Beauty Institute and called “Beauty Grew All Around.“ Regency Beauty Institute is one of the leading cosmetology schools in the nation. They have 88 campuses across the country and have been able to grow over the years by taking an innovative approach to learning and helping students turn their creativity into beautiful careers. I am so appreciative of all the hairstylists I’ve ever had that have made me feel beautiful, and I love the video. Even if you don’t want to watch it, click anyways and listen to the music. I think the song is really catchy and I keep coming back and playing it because it’s feel-good music with a great message.
