Foundation is one of my favorite makeup products to review on the blog, and boy do I have an amazing one for you today. I haven’t touched anything else since I started testing this out, and I am completely in love with it! It’s called Custom Coverage Concentrate by Ardency Inn, and I have their Ultra Lightweight Skin Perfecting Primer to show you as well. Spoiler: I love them both and you need them in your life!
In case you’re not familiar with the brand, Ardency Inn is exclusively sold at Sephora stores. It’s a makeup brand rooted in the downtown New York music scene. It’s supposed to be an edgy and free spirited line that appeals to musicians and makeup lovers alike. I think they do a really nice job capturing those ideals with the product line. The packaging is super funky, which you can see below.
First up is the Custom Coverage Concentrate. I wear the shade Light Golden, which is the second lightest shade in the range. You may be wondering how this works since it’s not simply called “foundation.” This is perhaps the most unique “foundation” I’ve ever tried. By mixing it with your daily moisturizer, you can turn it into your own custom liquid foundation, tinted moisturizer, or concealer! Normally I buy a foundation because I like the sheer coverage, or because I like the full coverage it gives me. Now, I can just use the CCC and custom blend whatever it is that I need that day. The more concentrate you use, the more coverage you will get.
Lately I’ve been toying with how much of the CC I want to use and with what skincare. I’m testing out a Josie Maran moisturizer for summer, and it has SPF so I thought I would combine the two. I’ve been doing equal parts of the moisturizer and the CCC. The CCC has a pump top that dispenses a LOT of product each time, but you only need a tiny bit. Although the bottle is .5 oz and your standard foundation comes in a 1 oz bottle, you are not getting shorted. You need so little of this product it will last you twice as long as one bottle of foundation, despite being half the size.
When I mix the Custom Coverage Concentrate with Josie Maran Argan Daily Moisturizer I get what I would describe as a medium-full coverage. I have been getting the best look when I use a Beauty Blender sponge to dab this product on my face. I sheer it out on the edges of my face and put the most product coverage under my eyes and nose where I’m the reddest. I get a matte finish but I don’t feel like this dries my skin out. I think you get the best of everything with a foundation like this because you can mix it with whatever skincare you want. Your skin will feel fantastic as long as you use a moisturizer you love!
My before and after pictures are taken in slightly different lighting. I apologize because I had my brother take them for me. I wanted to show before with no makeup and after with just the Custom Coverage Concentrate. You can really tell how it will look in the next picture down, where I am wearing a full face of makeup.
All in all, I feel this gave me great coverage and I’m really happy with it. I haven’t needed a setting powder or anything with it and it really does what I need it to to cover my imperfections. A+ in my book! While we’re on the topic of Ardency Inn products I’m really impressed with, I also wanted to mention their primer…
I just did a huge primer round up and I’m sad that I didn’t have this to try in time to include it, because it’s my new favorite. It’s a silicone-free, water-based formula that hydrates, firms, and absorbs excess oil in the skin. It’s meant to keep skin soft while giving the effect of tightened pores and preps skin for a matte finish with makeup.
The first thing I noticed about this primer is the refreshing scent, almost reminding me of the rain we’ve had all week. I need barely a pump to get my whole face covered. It’s really lightweight and soft on the skin. Once I apply my foundation over top I notice that everything just looks and feels better. My complexion looks and feels smoother, I can’t see any pores, and my makeup doesn’t fade throughout the day. This is amazing to me because my skin is combination/dry and most foundation is patchy and worn off by the end of the day. I’ve tried this in conjunction with the Ardency Inn Custom Coverage Concentrate as well as a few other foundations, and it has the same effect when used in conjunction with pretty much anything. It improves the look of every foundation it’s paired with!
All in all, I would definitely recommend the Ultra Lightweight Skin Perfecting Primer and the Custom Coverage Concentrate by Ardency Inn. They are both fantastic products that I think everyone will love! Have you heard of this brand or tried anything yet?
