One beauty product that I always tend to have on hand is a good setting powder. Especially in having a drier skin type, most of the moisturizing formulas of foundations have a wet/tacky finish. I am always finding that I need to set my makeup with something. I have found a lot of good formulas by different brands that I go back and forth between- Cover FX, Clinique, Becca, and It Cosmetics are just a few that I have purchased and repurchased many times.

I have mentioned this before but now that I am in my 30s I really appreciate “skincare makeup.” I like when my makeup does more than sit on my skin and look nice. I appreciate when it has great ingredients and benefits. Also, makeup is expensive! I have champagne taste on a beer budget so if I’m going to splurge on something nice, it better be worth my investment. It Cosmetics is one brand that I turn to regularly because I know I’m getting my money’s worth when I splurge on one of their products. They’re all formulated by plastic surgery doctors, so short of injecting a little Botox into my face, it’s really some of the best value out there if I want to keep my skin looking young.

Bye Bye Pores Pressed is the compact, pressed version of their awesome translucent powder. It’s good for every skin type and will set your makeup while hiding your pores, imperfections, fine lines, and wrinkles. The formula has lots of anti-aging things inside- silk, hydrolyzed collagen, antioxidants, and peptides. What I love about the compact version is that I can use a huge fluffy brush at the beginning of the day and if I’m worried about shine, I can take it with me and use the included blotter throughout the day. To be honest, when I use this, I don’t need a touch up but I like that I have the on the go option.

Bye Bye Pores Illumination is a brand new product that was just released on QVC in their most recent TSV. This is supposed to be the same formula as the original Bye Bye Pores but with the added benefit of illumination. After having been wearing it all week, I can attest that it feels really similar on my skin and does a good job setting my makeup. The illumination is more of a glow. There is no shimmer or sparkle to be found. The main difference for me between the two formulas was that this one seemed a bit “thinner” and required me to apply more for the same translucent finish I would get from the original formula. I also thought the illumination slightly emphasized my pores more so than the original formula. The difference in my mind is really slight, but worth mentioning!

At the moment, the only place you can purchase the Bye Bye Pores Illumination is from QVC’s Bye Bye Breakthroughs set that features it along with several other products from the Bye Bye line. I’m certain that it will eventually be integrated into It Cosmetics’ line and will be available for purchase on its own at some point. The set comes with the Heavenly Skin Bye Bye Pores Powder Brush to apply it.
