pixi-by-petra-reviewI’ve long since been curious about the brand Pixi by Petra. I don’t have a good reason for not having tried it except that where I’ve seen it in stores it’s more expensive than any of the other lines there. It’s not in my impulse buy range so nothing has ever made my shopping cart. I recently got my hands on five items in their line and I wanted to share them with you today. There are some hits and misses for me, but there isn’t a single “bad” product in the bunch. Any of these misses are only misses for me because they don’t stand out from some other similar products I have tried!

pixi-nourishing-cleansing-balmNourishing Cleansing Balm: I have several products similar to this that I love so the bar was already set high going in to trying this product. This is a super thick cleansing balm-to-oil cleanser that is meant to remove makeup and moisturize with sweet almond oil, shea butter, and vitamin E. This is deeply nourishing to my skin to the point where I want to make sure I get all of this off when applying so I don’t clog my pores. This will be excellent for super dry skin in the winter and I’m so excited to pull this back out in a month or so when my skin is drier and can appreciate it more. There is a light rose scent that some may find overwhelming, but I like it. This was a hit for me- although I think I will love it even more when my skin becomes drier over the winter!

Glow Tonic: I was probably the most excited to try this over anything else from Pixi since people just rave about this product. I hear about how great this is constantly in magazines, blogs, etc. This is an exfoliating product to use morning and night after cleansing to tone, firm, and tighten the skin. This doesn’t seem to do much for me besides act as a micellar water. I haven’t really hopped on the cleansing water bandwagon, as I just don’t feel it’s a necessary step for me. For me, this is a miss, but people LOVE this so much I am inclined to use it a little longer before passing it along to a friend. Surely I must be missing out on the magic somehow!

pixi-rose-oil-blend-reviewRose Oil Blend: How have I never heard of this product before now? This is such an amazing find for me that I want to shout about it from the rooftops. This is a botanical blend of oils- sweet almond, rosehip, jojoba, pomegranate seed, and rose geranium oils just to name a few. Something about this concoction is just magical, leaving my skin extremely hydrated, soft, smooth, and plumped from the inside out. The scent is awesome and smells like rose. The consistency is thicker, unlike most of the facial oils on the market that I’ve tried. I have worn this both layered with moisturizer and by itself at night for the past several weeks and I’m absolutely in love with it. My skin just drinks this up whenever I use it and I wouldn’t even need to moisturize on top of it, but for the sake of experimentation I wanted to try it. I just can’t say enough good things about this and if you love glowing skin you need to try it. For $24 this is a total steal compared to other similar products and I’ll absolutely be replenishing! This is one of my favorite skincare finds of the year and a total hit for me!

peach-honey-beauty-blush-duo-pixiPeach Honey Beauty Blush Duo + Kabuki: This is a beautiful blush/highlight duo in shades that I think most people will find very flattering. I like the split pan for travel and convenience in choosing shades that will complement one another. These are really silky and soft when you go in with your finger like I did to swipe the swatch below, but let’s be honest, when will you ever apply powder blush and highlighter with your fingertips? Probably never. When I used the kabuki it was hard to grab the product to get it on my cheeks without going back into the pan several times. It looked really nice upon the initial application but as I went through my day I noticed that my face looked a little on the glittery side. All in all, for the $18 price tag I don’t think this is a bad product, especially considering you get the brush with it, but I’d save up for a similar product that performed a little better. There are many! For this reason I’ll be passing on this product and I’d call it a miss for me.

peach-honey-blush-duo-swatches-pixiLift Lip Max in Petal Ice: This is a translucent volumizing lip treatment that acts as a plumper and hydrator. It has a very smoothing formula that feels great on my lips and has a slight tingle and mint flavor. It’s not a painful lip plumper to use but I’m not sure if it is actually plumping my lips or if the gloss is just creating an optical illusion that my lips are bigger. Regardless, it bothers me a bit that once the wand is out of the tube, you can see there is barely any product in the tube! The picture below is before my first use of the product. For this reason alone, I will enjoy this while it lasts, but it’s a miss and wouldn’t be a repurchase for me.

pixi-lift-lip-maxI’ve really enjoyed checking out these Pixi products. My hits and misses surprised me a lot! I thought I would go gaga over the makeup and Glow Tonic but the opposite ended up being true!

Have you tried any products by this brand before? What did you like the best?

I agree about the glow tonic. I did not find that it does much for me. Once I started using a higher glycolic acid toner that’s medical grade, I really noticed the difference. I think the glow tonic is good for sensitive skin.

I totally agree with you on the Rose oil! The packaging, the formula, the amazing fragrance – it definitely feels like a much more expensive product! I think it’s my favorite from PIXI so far.
