PR SAMPLEAFFILIATE LINKSJane Iredale is a brand I love and today I’m excited to share with you a nice bunch of products releasing this fall with their Fashion Forward collection. This collection features Smooth Affair for Eyes, Retractable Brow Pencil, and Cindy PureMoist Lipstick. Read on to find out which is my favorite of the bunch!
You probably know if you follow this blog that I love to wear neutral makeup most of the time. If I’m not wearing them as my standalone shades, I am probably at least using a neutral eyeshadow primer with whatever look I’ve put together for the day. That’s why I got so excited to see six Smooth Affair for Eyes shades in sheer neutrals. This formula is a smudge-proof, crease-proof eyeshadow that can be used as a standalone product or as a primer. I have Petal and Naked. For me personally, I prefer my primer to be opaque on my eyelids because they are veiny. That said, the sheerness of these makes them not work well for me when they are worn alone. I have been wearing them over Urban Decay Primer Potion in Eden and like they way they look over that. The formula on the cream shadows is really thin and so they are barely detectable on the lid but if I build them up too much they are prone to creasing. Especially when you wear them over a primer they don’t always play nice so if you decide to wear them in this way it might take some playing to get your groove. All in all, for $32, I would probably skip picking up more of these in favor of easier to wear formulas. If your eyelids aren’t veiny like mine and you like a lighter coverage, sheer cream shadow I think these are definitely worth a closer look.
The Retractable Brow Pencil in Brunette is a reddish brown shade with an ultra-fine precision tip on one side and a spoolie on the other. The formula is waterproof and has medium coverage. I really liked using this despite it being a little warmer of a shade than I tend to reach for most of the time. I like that I can really get in there with fine, hair-like strokes to create a realistic looking brow. For $20 I do think this formula stands up to its high end competitors that do the same thing, and I like it at least as much!
Lastly, Cindy PureMoist Lipstick was probably my favorite find out of the bunch. I’ve been in the mood for a deep, luscious red for fall and I think I struck gold with this one. The formula is really conditioning with avocado and sunflower seed oils so my lips never look dried out when I wear this. It’s hard for me to find a red lipstick that suits me for fall because I never know where to start. You have your berry reds, your orange-reds, your blue-based reds, bright red, coral red…I could go on and on. I like a red that is a little deeper without being too vampy, blue based so my teeth don’t look yellow when I smile, and something allows me to be versatile with the rest of my makeup look. This red is super gorgeous and I can see wearing it many ways- with a light wash of taupe all over my lid, with a smoky eye, with a little bit of golden-bronze shimmer in my shadow, really any type of bold or neutral look would be gorgeous with this lippie. I’m already making plans to wear it for family pictures!

The Fashion Forward collection is super simple but has some really classic items! I think they did a great job with this fall launch. I don’t have a picture of myself wearing all the items at once, but I did happen to take a picture wearing the Cindy lipstick. In the weeks to come I have a few other posts where I’m wearing the other items and I’ll be sure to label them as such!
Do you have a favorite from the line? Do you tend to prefer simple and pretty makeup or do you prefer when launches come out with bolder colors?
