I have been raving about the Cover FX Custom Enhancer Drops* in several posts this summer, and finally got my hands on the whole line and decided I needed to share them with you. If you haven’t been following along, these are my favorite new makeup discovery in a long time. I can’t remember the last time I found something that excited me about makeup as much as these have!
The Custom Enhancer Drops come in dropper bottles that are 0.5 oz each. Trust me when I say that this is a TON of product. Each of these bottles could last you a couple years even if you are using the product every day. You can use them a couple different ways- by adding a drop of these to your skincare or foundation, or by applying them directly. The effect will be highlighting, strobing, or bronzing depending on how these are used.
A little goes a long way here, even if you’re going for vibrance. My main method of using these has been for highlighting. Four of the shades (Moonlight, Sunlight, Candlelight, and Celestial) are highlighting formulas. The remaining two shades (Sunkissed and Sunset) are the bronzing formulas.
Adding a very small dot from the dropper of one of the highlighting formulas into my foundation has helping me get an extra boost to my glow. I especially appreciate that it doesn’t seem to change the consistency to my foundation. The texture of these is like a fast drying oil. It’s a very unique texture because they are definitely liquid, but the texture dries down almost immediately upon rubbing it on to the skin. The more you use, the more luminosity you’ll get. When mixed with foundation, the result is not glittery at all but it does have a very youthful glow to it due to the the high concentration of pearls in the formula. I’ve been mixing it with my It Cosmetics CC+ Illumination most of all this summer, but I’ve also used it with the new Elizabeth Arden foundation with great results. I’m beginning to think this improves the look of whatever it’s paired with!
If you can only pick one of these up, may I suggest Celestial. After having picked up Celestial at Sephora, I went through my stash to try and find a near dupe. This is such a unique formula and they swatch like molten metal, so I wasn’t able to find anything like it at all. But as I was swatching other products to see how vibrant or sheer they would be in comparison, I noticed that almost nothing came close to Celestial in tone at all. You can check out some of my comparison swatches HERE. I was hoping to compare it to Benefit High Beam but I wasn’t able to find that within my stash the day I was looking. Many of the popular highlighters on the market right now are on the warmer end so those types of shades may be easier to live without if you have to choose just one of these to purchase!
Swatches L-R: Celestial, Sunlight, Moonlight, Candlelight, Sunkissed, Sunset
This is a picture I took when I was writing about some of my Summer Favorites recently. I had been experimenting with mixing Moonlight into my foundation and bouncing a small amount onto my cheeks with a Beauty Blender sponge after my makeup was done for a little extra glow. I then applied a small amount of Sunkissed to frame my face and in the hollows of my cheeks as a contour. I buffed that out with the Beauty Blender as well. Surprisingly, these shades apply just as well when they’re mixed with a foundation as when they’re placed over top of powder. I really like the way this turned out and I have been wearing the drops every single day since I got my hands on them!
If you are really salivating at these and can’t narrow it down, I know I mentioned Celestial is my favorite, but Moonlight is a close second. If you look at my swatches closely, Celestial is a very vibrant glistening pearl shade, and Sunlight is softer and more golden. Moonlight seems to be somewhere in between the two. The differences are very subtle and I don’t think you can go wrong with either! I’m trying to get my mileage out of the deeper shades while I still have a bit of a tan going, but as soon as it fades I know that I will be getting the most use out of Celestial.
These drops were such a fun find for me! I’m trying not to try/buy as many beauty products lately and really limit myself to the most exciting launches, both as a way of saving money and time. There are a lot of just-OK releases out there but this is not one of them. The Custom Enhancer Drops rock and they are totally worth checking out!
Do you own any of these yet? Which shades appeal to you most?
