What’s your favorite powder?
Of course I’m going to be picky so I have a favorite pressed and a favorite loose powder. I recently used my entire pan of It Cosmetics Bye Bye Powder Pressed in Translucent and although I love it, I was itching to try something new. I bought the Nars Light Reflecting Pressed Setting Powder on a whim after hearing so many great things about it. I was surprised that it didn’t work for me at all! I had to scratch the top layer off because even going in with a stiff brush didn’t make it budge at all. But even so I wasn’t able to get any out. Finally I decided to go back to an old favorite!
The powder I bought is one I haven’t used in probably five years but it used to be my absolute favorite. The Clinique Blended Face Powder in Transparency 3 was my choice! I wouldn’t typically go this dark but they have a very small range of only four shades. I decided not to go totally translucent and get something with a little color. Years ago when I purchased this last, it had hints of glimmer in it and it was absolutely gorgeous. They don’t carry that one anymore unfortunately, but I am finding that Transparency 3 is my absolute perfect shade for summer. The provided brush that comes with it is tiny and you’ll want something bigger and fluffier. I’m using the one that came with the latest It Cosmetics QVC TSV to apply the powder most days. This powder is lightweight and does a great job setting and perfecting makeup. Most days lately I have been applying my It Cosmetics CC+ and then I’ll set it with this. Even though it provides a matte finish, it still breathes so if I want to apply my Illuminating version of the CC+ I can still see some of the glow peeking through the powder. The texture is super-fine and looks really natural on my skin. I am totally in love with this powder! I think Transparency 3 is a great color match for me at the moment and it’s not as dark as it would sound, but I would probably switch to Transparency Neutral or the Invisible Blend if it was winter.

In short, if I am feeling a pressed powder, I’ve been sticking to my Bye Bye Pores Pressed and if I am feeling like a loose powder, I am using my Clinique Blended Face Powder. I like to use a big fluffy brush with each so the ease of portability doesn’t make much of a difference for me. They’re both great products and I don’t think you could go wrong with either. Do you use powder to set your makeup? Have you ever used one of these?
