My huge summer project I have been putting off all summer is getting all of our family photos printed out. Our oldest turns four this September, and I am so behind! Like a little nudge from the universe, I got some coupons in the mail today from my favorite photo printing site, and it reminded me that I need to get the ball rolling with some of my major to do list items. In the coming weeks, I have a few more photo sessions planned out, including a maternity session for myself, our last family pics together before baby, and of course newborn pictures when our little bundle is here. Besides getting everything printed for photo albums, I’d also like to get some large prints made to hang on the wall. Since this will be art we will be looking at every day, of course I want to look my best in it!
Since I have a photo session in a few days, I am trying to plan ahead what I need to look my best. My pregnancy brain has definitely gotten the best of me recently so I’ve been making lists upon lists just to make sure I get everything gets done that needs to get done. Prepping for my maternity photos is no exception. I thought I’d share a few of my beauty solutions that I will be using throughout the week. All of these items can be purchased at Sally Beauty!
I have used a lot of sunless tanners before and had pretty good results with a few of them. I only have a couple days to achieve a deep, dark tan from my current status of mostly pasty with a side of farmer’s tan. I plan to use a brand that I actually discovered by reading Maskcara’s blog last summer. I have had excellent results in the past from Tanwise Self-Tanning Face Gel and Tanwise Dark Bronzing Sunless Tanning Mousse. When applied with a tanning mitt I get great, streak-less, natural looking results from these.
Going to a salon for a pedicure sounds phenomenal right now (leg massage, please!) but it’s pricey and I know I can do the same job at home with some tools from Sally Beauty. I like to keep my fingernails short and filed and I don’t normally paint them, but for the sake of getting pictures taken, I have a pinky nude shade I will use from OPI. For my feet, I will be giving them a little TLC with an asp, a good nail trim, and a bright pink shade I love from the OPI line. When I don’t pay close attention to my feet, they are so gross looking. It’s easy for me to neglect them, but it’s one of those small details that really matters so it’s on my list!
My addiction to ice cream during pregnancy has not only added some unwanted cellulite to my butt but it’s also making my skin act up right now! I am dedicating myself to being better about a proper skincare routine this week leading up to my pictures. I am going to pick a mask for my face and one for my hair too. I have a hair appointment the day of my pictures, but I would like to do a mask beforehand because I’ve been heat styling a lot lately and my hair is feeling pretty dry. I don’t want my stylist thinking she has to take a lot of length off for damage, so I’m going to try and make amends leading up to my appointment! Both of these items will probably come from my review pile. I have lots of goodies to try out at the moment.
Any time I am getting pictures done, I take special care to shave and exfoliate in the shower. I will be reviewing the exfoliator I plan to use sometime soon, but if I exfoliate all of my exposed skin and then apply a glowy lotion, I know my skin will look amazing in pictures.
When getting professional pictures taken, I try to bump my makeup up a notch, so I’ll probably wear a smoky eye and some false lashes and make sure I’m wearing a long wearing lipstick that will hold out through the pictures. I’m glad I scheduled a hair appointment for the day of my pictures. Styling my hair will be one less thing for me to worry about that day!
When you get professional pictures done, do you have a huge checklist like I do? I’d love to know what other ladies are doing to get ready to look their best. Please let me know in the comments below!
