3 New Products by AnastasiaI had just posted my May Beauty Buys post the other day and I found myself at Sephora yet again, buying some new goodies. I had good intentions not to pick up anything else for myself for a while, then I had my annual dermatology appointment and the building is in the parking lot of our HUGE mall that is a 30 minute drive from my house. It has an amazing Sephora, Teavana (I always treat myself while I’m there) and lots of other fun stores so when I found myself kid free for a few minutes I rushed over to peek into Sephora. I planned to breeze through but then I spotted the new Anastasia display they had.

Apparently, our Sephora expanded several lines that they are carrying right now, and they began to carry the Anastasia pro line. I didn’t know that she did more than brows but our store now has a bunch of single eyeshadows, liquid lipsticks, and they’re getting foundations. I’ve always enjoyed Anastasia’s brow products, but that’s about where it’s ended for me. I ended up picking out three things, the Anastasia Glow Kit in Gleam, Liquid Lipstick in Soft Lilac, and Lip Primer. I’ve been playing with all 3 and I’m excited to tell you what I think!

Anastasia Glow Kit in Gleam, Lip Primer, Soft Lilac Liquid LipstickThe Glow Kit really caught my eye and I immediately knew I had to have it once I saw the display. There were two palettes, one for lighter skin and one for darker skin, and I grabbed Gleam which was for lighter skin. There are four shades inside, Hard Candy, Mimosa, Starburst, and Crushed Pearl. The display had been used over and over again and the pans were dug down deep and I could really see how gorgeous, luminous, and amazing they were just by looking at the pans. I won’t lie, before this palette has been used it looks really unremarkable. I actually think it looks more like a blush palette than anything! But once I dug into it I could see how shiny and perfect each of the individual shades looked. And I am in love!

Each of the four powder highlighters is metallic and intense. This isn’t exactly a subtle highlight, but for myself, I like the look when it’s applied lightly. They blend really easily and you can layer two or more shades together to your heart’s content. These would work great on the eyelids as an eyeshadow or as a highlighter or over blush. I’ve always sang the praises of Becca’s highlighters and I have to say the Glow Kit and the Becca highlighters are not very similar. You could justify owning both! Becca’s highlighters are buttery, highly pigmented, and highly shimmery. I tend to wear them as actual highlighters on the high points of my face, my cupid’s bow, etc. The shades in the Glow Kit are stiffer to the touch, highly pigmented, and between the four shades, Hard Candy and Mimosa are more like blush toppers for me, whereas Starburst and Crushed Pearl could be used as a true highlight. Of course that’s just my personal opinion but my skin’s so light that it’s hard to use a shade as a highlighter unless it’s lighter than my actual skin tone.

Hard Candy: A mood-changing golden peach with a pink pearl reflective finish.
Starburst: A rush of cool pink with an iridescent finish.
Crushed Pearl: A glimmering pink and silver with a crystalized chrome finish.
Mimosa: A radiant golden peach with a metallic finish.

With the Glow Kit, you get four shades for $40, that’s just $10 a pan. I don’t think that’s a half bad deal. I had to snag one for myself!

Anastasia Glow Kit in Gleam- Hard Candy, Mimosa, Starburst, Crushed PearlThe next order of business was the liquid lipsticks. I was actually on my way to the cash register when I thought, I just want to try this! I swiped it on and was about to get going but I fell in love with the color. Soft Lilac is described as a pale violet, although I’m not sure I agree with that shade description. It comes across to me as a muted berry-purple and it’s pretty much my happy shade!

Anastasia Lip Primer, Liquid Lipstick in Soft LilacThe one thing you probably already know about liquid lipsticks if you’ve ever tried one is that they can be very drying. I always feel good about buying a liquid lipstick because they tend to last for hours and hours so the investment of buying yet another lippie doesn’t seem so silly. It’s cost effective right? The only problem is that when they get really suck the moisture out of my lips I don’t end up reaching for them! I noticed that Anastasia had a Lip Primer so I decided to check that out too.

Anastasia Lip PrimerThe Lip Primer is a sheer treatment that primes and smoothes the lips to prepare them for the color. It prevents the color from flaking or bleeding too. This wouldn’t have been a typical purchase for me but I figured I can use it with my other liquid lipsticks I have too, and maybe I’ll get more mileage out of those! In the past I’ve reached for chapstick or something like that, but this formula is way different. It’s hard to describe other than the fact that it keeps my lips moisturized while locking in the color yet my lip shade doesn’t slide around and it doesn’t change the texture of the formula that’s worn over top either. I think I’ll actually get a lot of use out of this!

Anastasia Liquid Lipstick Soft LilacWhen I pair the primer and the lipstick together, it’s a match made in heaven. Below, I’ve swatched everything I talked about today for you.

Anastasia Glow KitI’ve really enjoyed all three of these products so far and they were a great way to check out what else Anastasia has to offer besides brow products. I am definitely excited to dip into the brand more over time.

Do you own any Anastasia? I’d love to hear any other recommendations!

You look lovely Justina! Soft Lilac is the perfect shade for you. I have it in the gloss and love it, but it’s a much different shade than the liquid lipstick. Or maybe it just looks a lot different on me! I had no idea there was an Anastasia lip primer, but I want it now. My lips aren’t crazy about long wearing liquid lipsticks. Maybe it will help!

I’ve been eyeing those highlighters, but I am really trying to restrain myself from spending too much. You look absolutely flawless though!
