Last month I remember feeling rather uninspired, and didn’t buy anything. This month there were a couple things coming out that I wanted to try, I had a retail therapy shopping day, and needed to restock on some skincare. I’ll give you the rundown on what I ended up with and what I think of it so far!
Last week I ended up at the Boston Store after a rather stressful day and decided to treat myself. I don’t even remember what I originally came in to buy but I left with their 7 Day Scrub and their Turnaround Revitalizing Instant Facial. I cashed my last exfoliator months ago and never thought to replace it and my skin has been looking dull lately so I decided to give these a spin. I believe I’ve tried them both before so we’ll see how it goes. I like the idea of a scrub mild enough to use every day. The Turnaround scrub is a micro scrub so it has very fine granules like sugar. I’ll post my thoughts in a couple weeks!
I’ve been looking through my makeup lately and coming to the realization that most of the foundation I have is full coverage. Some of the trends in makeup lately are just not flattering on aging skin. Granted I’m only 29 but harsh eye brow lines, full coverage foundation, tons of highlighter that emphasize my pores, etc… none of that is a good look on me. I’m trying to embrace a more natural look lately. I still love to wear makeup of course, but I’m trying to cool it with the coverage of my foundation. I’ll have a post on that coming up soon, but in the meantime I wanted to try Lancome Beauty Balm in Porcelaine. This has SPF 30 and is breathable coverage that still covers my redness pretty well. I’m pretty impressed with it so far and if I feel like I need a boost in coverage I can add some pressed powder over top.
While I was at the counter I also picked up a Color Design Matte Lip Crayon in the shade Sought After. It’s a really nice pink that leans coral and I loved it in store (plus it helped me qualify for their GWP! It goes on silky smooth, has a matte finish, but still has a little bit of slip to it, and is a great every day shade. The only issue I’ve had is that it clings horribly to dry patches on my lips. When I exfoliate my lips, I can’t get this stuff to glide over slightly moistened lips at all. I haven’t decided it it’s going back or not yet but I’m still playing with it.
This month, I got my hands on the Too Faced Peanut Butter and Jelly palette! I was so excited to get this. I had been holding out because I wanted to purchase it along with the Too Faced Peach Palette, but I missed it on the launch date so I had to go ahead and get this one anyway, because…purple. I have only worn it once so far but it’s gorgeous and I love the scent of peanut butter.
And lastly, Benefit’s Dandelion Dew was an impulse buy. I bought this along with the PB&J palette mostly because I saw a review on YouTube and it intrigued me, and I haven’t bought anything from Benefit in a while. So far, I’ve only used it once but my first impression is that one pump is WAY more than you need for both cheeks combined. I might do a full review on this sometime, or I might not 😉 Stay tuned.
Did you buy anything cool this month? Tell me about it!
