Do you ever notice a major makeup or skin snafu you’re experiencing when you take a selfie? I was wearing one of the Tarte Lip Paints the other day and wanted to text a picture to a friend, so I put my phone in selfie mode, and BAM! I couldn’t even hit send because I couldn’t believe the depth of the lines in my forehead. Did I just age 10 years overnight? What is going on here?!

My realization was that it has been super cold here lately, with like arctic level wind chill. We were in a winter heat wave forever, but once we got our first snowfall that stuck it became ice cold outside. I never switched up my skincare routine to accommodate our much colder weather, and as a result I have deep, dry grooves in my forehead. Not cool! I decided to do some digging around my house and found a sample of Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Deep Moisture Balm*, a new moisturizer out on the market that provides deep hydration to very dry skin.

Making sure my skin is able to lock in vital moisture is so helpful to keeping it soft, and free of all of my dry lines that come out when it’s sapped of moisture. A few key ingredients in the Ultra Facial Deep Moisture Balm help keep my skin happy and hydrated:

Edelweiss Flower Extract: This flower is resilient in harsh environmental conditions and is known as having a “survivor molecule.” They are cultivated in the Swiss Alps and grow a fuzzy layer of protection like a sweater on its petals for added protection from dehydration, cold, and UV damage.

Antarcticine: A glycoprotein from the soil of Antarctica that stimulates the formulation of collagen, I, IV and elastin.

Squalene: A lipid derived from olives that is similar in molecular structure to natural skin lipids. Increases skin’s water sealing capacity which locks in moisture to increase hydration.

Glycerin: Helps provide hydration and moisture to skin’s superficial layers.

The balm is thick, and there’s a lot in the tub. I’m finding it perfect for moisturizing during the day or night. It’s a major drink for my dry skin and when I use it my dry skin plumps right up, no more of those icky lines that pop up when I am just not getting enough hydration. I am saving this tub for the arctic days when the weather is severe and the wind is whipping. It has kept my skin looking great so far and I even put the leftover product on my hands and knuckles. It really makes a difference for me.

Kiehl's Ultra Facial Deep Moisture BalmDare I say this is the most hydrating moisturizer I have ever had. It’s pretty much a miracle worker! What’s the most hydrating moisturizer you have tried?
