Happy New Year!

I remember this time last year standing in the grocery store, thinking about all the changes I wanted to make in my life in 2015. I remember thinking- this will be the year I get healthy. This will be the year I am better with money. This will be the year I conquer. In a lot of ways, those things ended up coming true for me. I worked really hard at paying some of our debt off this year, and I worked hard at exercising this year. I feel like for the first time ever, I am in a fitness routine that is working for me. I have been eating healthier and drinking more water than ever before too.

If you talk to anyone who knows anything about weight loss, they will tell you that drinking water is key. Water is a zero calorie beverage that fills you up and has a ton of health benefits. My hair, skin, and nails all seem to look better when I am filling up on water. I don’t get as many headaches when I am hydrated. Water is always free at restaurants. It’s refreshing to drink, and if you sip it before you eat a meal, you’re likely to consume less calories. In a time when everybody is pushing this and that way to lose weight (shakes, wraps, etc.) you can rest assured that the best way to lose weight comes out of the tap in your kitchen sink, and you don’t need any of what those people are selling.

Adding Young Living's Orange oil to your water can make it flavorful enough to entice you to drink more.Water is awesome- so how do we drink more of it? This is a question I asked myself last winter. At the time, I thought the answer lied in drink additives. There are lots of little water flavoring mixes you can buy- Crystal Light, Mio, etc- all kinds of companies are selling them! It can be discouraging trying to be healthy though, because the whole reason you want to buy a drink mix is to force yourself to drink more of that zero calorie water. You don’t really want the sugar, aspartame, food coloring, chemical CRAP that is in most drink mixes out there. I never really found a good option at the grocery store, but in the last few months I discovered the ticket to drinking more water. Young Living’s Orange Oil.

Drinking water infused with orange oil can make it taste so delicious you want to drink water all day. I never would’ve thought to add an oil to a water, but it works for me. The bottle is small, but use literally one drop in a glass of water. More than that and the taste is too strong for my preference.

I have been trying to learn more about essential oils and their benefits because you can buy essential oils EVERYWHERE now it seems. One thing I want to warn you about is that not all essential oils are for consumption. I saw a bunch of them at Whole Foods a while ago and noticed that they were the kind meant for diffusing, not the kind meant for mixing with water. Young Living has several oils that can be mixed for consumption- orange, tangerine, lemon, and I’m sure I’m missing a few more. Just make sure if you are adding something to your water that you look at the back of the label to make sure you are using it in the way it’s intended.

Drinking water infused with orange, lemon, grapefruit, tangerine, and other fruity flavors can make it delicious enough to entice you to drink more.Of course, if you want another easy way to add the fruit flavor to your drink, you can get a fruit infuser to infuse the fresh fruit into your water! I’ve done that in the past too but I never know how long the fruit will last in the water before it goes bad, and I worry about steeping my water in potential pesticides that I didn’t wash off well enough. Am I the only person who worries about odd things like that?

Happy New Year and I hope your year is off to a healthy start. I did recently sign up to get a wholesale membership of Young Living, but don’t worry, this won’t turn into an essential oil blog. I wasn’t even sure if I wanted to share that I was using it on my blog, but this has always been a place I have come to share things that are working for me whether it’s a beauty product, a recipe, or any other little “gem” I’ve discovered. I decided I had to share since I do love essential oils! I have a few other essential oils I’m using right now for various other ailments and I’ll be sure to share them over the next few weeks. In the meantime, if you want more info on Young Living, essential oils, or if you’re wondering how you can get a free bottle of Orange Oil, please email me!

I’ve done the fruit infusion water bottles, and have the same issues with wondering how long I can keep the fruit in the water! I love essential oils, but have never put them in my water. I have a lemon one that I know is safe for consumption. I’ll have to try orange.

What kind do you use Nidia? I’m always so sketched out by real fruit. I don’t want to have to re-infuse water all week, you know?

I’m a huge water drinker. I quit soda and coffee last year. Fruit infusion is a nice motivator to drink water more.

What a great idea! I usually add a bag of green tea to my water, but orange oil sounds amazing.

I started out having to add flavor to my water to get used to drinking it. Now I just drink it plain. I don’t always like it haha
