Luxury beauty products are my weakness so are holiday makeup collections, so of course Guerlain’s holiday collection is like HEAVEN to me. I mentioned in my Fall Favorites post a few weeks ago that I was swooning over the Guerlain collection right now and today I have a post featuring some of their awesome products. This is my first foray into the brand, and I have to say I am IN LOVE. Read on to see my thoughts on the things I tried.

If you are new to the brand, the limited edition Guerlain Eye and Blush palette is a great place to start. Check out the brushed gold case that this palette is housed in. I think any makeup lover would be salivating over this beauty here. Guerlain of course has thought of everything and put this in a velvet pouch- that way you can store the palette in there and keep your fingerprints off of it, and to me it’s like opening a present every time I get my palette out.
Another reason this is a great palette for someone new to the brand is that there are all neutrals here. You can create anything from a natural to a smoky eye with the five subtly opalescent eye shadows here in champagne, brown, gold, pink, and plum. They are simply beautiful on the lids and they are so easy to use. My only “complaint” is the luxury signature they leave on each pan of eyeshadow. It’s so pretty I don’t even want to use it! I’ll admit I’m going to hit pan on either side of the signature at some point because I just don’t want to brush over the beautiful script.
Underneath the eyeshadow, there are four pink blushes. The finishes range from matte to shimmer and they are absolutely glowing. The bottom right shade is my absolute favorite, and the one I chose to wear in the picture at the bottom of the page. It reminds me of Nars Orgasm but more sheer. I’ve been wearing it on my cheeks with the brighter shade directly to its left on the apples of my cheeks.
Can you even stand how beautiful this is? The compact is so perfect and you can’t really tell but there is a large mirror inside, making it perfectly travel friendly. You also get two applicators (that I haven’t used) in the velvet pouch. In a pinch, they’d work great. I just have a love affair with the makeup brushes I have so I haven’t needed to use them yet, but they stay tucked away in the velvet pouch just in case.
Next up is Guerlain’s limited edition Météorites Powder for the Face and Décolleté. These are currently sold out on Sephora.com, and let me just say, I’m not surprised. If you are into highlighting, this will be holy grail status for you. The Météorites pearls are made of light-reflecting iridescent pearly particles that leave the skin looking radiant. I don’t know if I’ve tried a highlighter that photographs as well as this one. I’ve had equal success applying with a makeup brush and with the puff that is housed inside this container. I love that the case looks like a Christmas ornament yet it’s white and gold so it’s not so over to top holiday-like that I’ll grow tired of it when it’s warmer out.
I should mention that the fragrance of the Météorites smells almost soapy, but the scent dissipates. I get the same effect from the palette. It’s a very specific scent and I’ve experienced this with a lot of luxury brands I’ve tried. Guerlain describes it as the iconic violet fragrance. Lancome Dual Finish powder also has a very distinct scent. I could be blindfolded with either of these products and tell you what brand I’m experiencing.
The last product I tried from the holiday collection was the KissKiss Creamy Satin Finish Lipstick in 325 Rouge Kiss. They weren’t kidding about the creamy part- this lipstick has mango butter and hyaluronic acid spheres so my lips are left feeling moisturized and feel a little plumper. I love the finish of the lipstick, it’s somewhat long wearing as long as I’m not eating or drinking, and it’s very comfortable to wear in the winter months. The tube has a lot of heft to it as well. It’s a black lacquer and although the tube seems smaller than the average lipstick tube to me, it weighs a lot in my hand and feels very high end.
I’m always tempted to touch my skin up in Photoshop. If anything, I will usually brighten the whites of my eyes slightly and if I’m not reviewing a foundation or concealer I will take away some of my dark circles. I don’t like to overdo it. But I decided to leave well enough alone in this picture because I actually really like the way I look! I think all of the makeup I described is portrayed honestly. The Météorites give me a subtle glow that comes across as healthy and not sparkly, and as you can see the palette contains the perfect every day neutrals. I am wearing casual clothes today but even my red lipstick doesn’t seem out of place for this casual chic look!
