new smashbox makeup launches fall 2015press samples, affiliate links

On Sunday morning, I woke up kind of late but I still really wanted to go to church. We have been trying to go more consistently and I wasn’t about to use waking up late as an excuse. I had about 5 minutes to get myself ready so I thought I would try using some of my new Smashbox products. My skin was already looking pretty good so I actually skipped my whole skincare routine! I don’t ever do this but I was in a rush and I’m using some pretty good stuff lately (and it’s really cheap! I’ll be sharing it with you in a few weeks!) so I went for it. The first thing I did was apply some of the Smashbox Photo Finish Light

smashbox photo finish primer lightA few things l LOVE about this primer is that it’s 60% water based and makes my skin look really refreshed whether I am wearing makeup or not. It fills my pores in so that my foundation will glide over top if I am wearing makeup. Sometimes if I apply my makeup so it looks cakey I can fix it by spreading some of this over my face. In a pinch, I also used this once on my chafing inner thighs when I was walking around Seattle super pregnant in a sundress. TMI, but true story, this stuff is magical.

Next, I applied the Smashbox Camera Ready BB Water in Fair/Light. This has taken a little getting used to, but I do like it quite a bit now that I’ve had a chance to play a little. This is a VERY watery formula and looks like real skin. There is no way to cake this stuff on. The finish is sheer and you only need a tiny bit to cover your whole face. I don’t think the coverage is all that buildable since the formula itself is so sheer. There is also SPF 30 here which is awesome since I’m obsessed with sun protection. The finish dries to a demi-matte but there is still some dewiness there. It’s a great formula! When I said it took me a bit to get the hang of it, I’ll tell you what I discovered. You’re going to want to apply this directly to your face with your fingers, and then go back in with a sponge like the Beauty Blender to blend. It’s so watery thin that it kind of seeps into the sponge if you don’t apply it directly to your face first.

smashbox camera ready bb water reviewI also recently discovered the 24/7 CC Spot Concealer in Fair/Light. This is a waterproof concealer that instantly covers dark spots, sun spots and post-acne marks, while reducing the look of them. I find this product to have such neat qualities. It contains Photoset Polymers, created with medical-grade liquid bandage technology, meaning it basically adheres and bends with your skin. As a result, there’s no cakiness at all, and it goes on super super smooth. It’s waterproof, transfer-proof, sweat-and humidity-resistant and full coverage. I have been applying this under my eyes and on the redness around my nose as well as on some of my dark spots. When I wore this in a huge rush the other day, I also applied it to my eyelids to cancel out the redness. I am super impressed with the formula so far. This formula does appear to be buildable. I’m a total concealer junkie so I know I will be using the crap out of this!

smashbox eyebrow pencilsAmong other things, Smashbox nails eyebrows! I’ve enjoyed the Brow Tech Matte Pencil in Brunette and the Smashbox Brow Tech Gloss Stick in Brunette. The Matte Pencil is pretty basic and down to business. There is a spoolie on one end and an ultra fine tip on the other end. The shade Brunette comes across as a cool brown shade. The Gloss Stick is more of a pencil/gel hybrid from what I can tell. It’s not so stiff coming off of the pencil tip and there is a little bit of a luster to the formula. Not a shimmer, just a bit more “oomph” to the formula if that makes sense. The shade Brunette comes across as more of a warm brown than what I saw from the Matte Pencil. I am really enjoying both formulas! The Matte Pencil reminds me a lot of this and this brown pencil.

I set everything with the Smashbox Photo Finish Primer Water. You can use this before you apply makeup to prime, after to set it, and throughout the day to refresh your skin. I have always been a huge fan of “makeup mists” and I always have several bottles going at once. I keep them in my purse, diaper bag, in my bathroom, pretty much everywhere! The Primer Water doesn’t have silicone, alcohol, or oil, but instead it’s packed with electrolytes that reawaken the skin! This is some good stuff right here.

I wanted to show you the finished product too! I used the Photo Finish LightBB Water, CC Spot Concealer, Primer Water, and the Brow Tech Gloss Stick in this picture. The ONLY other three things I used were the Josie Maran Argan Color Stick in Glow (review/buy), the It Cosmetics Hello Lashes Extensions, and  Bite Beauty Lush Fruit Lip Gloss in Bellini (review/buy). I was able to breeze through and honestly I had a full face of makeup on in less than 5 minutes. It went super quick!

smashbox bb waterI love Smashbox for their no nonsense products. Every time I try something from their line it ends up being a favorite of mine. I have been a huge fan of their primer for about 10 years and I’ve more recently developed a love for some of their other products. I’ve noticed in recent years that they carry a lot of their product line in two sizes which is SO fabulous. I don’t always need a full size primer or face mist. Sometimes I’d rather test out a smaller size first to make sure I love it. Of all the Smashbox products I’ve tried, I think my all time favorite Smashbox product is the Smashbox Camera Ready BB Cream for Eyes (review/buy). I haven’t worn that in forever for some reason, gotta dig it out!

What do you think of Smashbox? Do you have a favorite product? I’d love to hear about it in the comments!

You look beautiful and natural in the picture. I can’t believe it took you so little time. I’ve been intrigued by this foundation but was worried it wouldn’t cover up enough. I think I need to test it at Sephora.

I have a Smashbox lip gloss that I absolutely love. The primers don’t agree with my skin, which sucks.
