If you follow me on Instagram, you may have noticed I recently drank the Young Living koolaid LOL. I will be explaining more in depth in another post what happened with that- I discovered the brand when I was looking for a teething remedy for my littlest and have since gotten hooked on some of their products for what they’ve done for us.

Of course I noticed that Young Living carries some skincare items and was immediately intrigued. I have a lot of skincare I am working on using right now and a lot of things that I LOVE so I limited myself to buying only one thing from their line to try out. I really wanted to try their ART skincare line, but decided I’d dip my toes in the Young Living skincare waters by testing out their Essential Beauty Serum for Dry skin first. I chose this because the wholesale price is only $20.25 for the 15 ml size so if I fall in love with it and it becomes a NEED in my rotation, using it will actually save me money. The ART Renewal Serum is $70.75 wholesale, and if I fell in love with that, it’s not really doing my wallet any favors! I searched high and low online for some reviews and found literally nothing. I thought that maybe I could be a resource for others googling the most affordable skincare option that YL has right now and maybe help a sister out!

young living essential beauty serum for dry skin reviewI bought this myself and earn money on purchases made through links in this post.

Essential Beauty Serums are formulated for dry, oily, or acne-prone skin, and utilize the benefits of pure essential oils to protect, strengthen, and nourish the skin. The Dry Skin formula moisturizes and nourishes dehydrated skin.

The essential oils used in the Essential Beauty Serum steam extracted to preserve their qualities and they’re not diluted. I’m the least crunchy person you’ll ever meet so I can’t really elaborate much beyond that. If these sorts of things are important to you then read about them! Here are the ingredients found in the serum-

Cedrus Atlantica† (Cedarwood) Bark Oil, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil, Persea Gratissima (Avocado) Oil, Callitris Intratropica (Blue Cypress) Wood Oil, Rosa Rubiginosa (Rosehip) Seed Oil, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Oil, Lavandula Angustifolia† (Lavender) Oil, Commiphora Myrrha† (Myrrh) Oil, Syzygium Armaticum† (Clove) Flower Bud Oil, Tocopherol, Lycium Barbarum (Wolfberry) Seed Oil, Lecithin, and Royal Hawaiian Sandalwood (Santalum paniculatum)

young living essential beauty serum for dry skinTo use this, I poured about 5 drops into my hand and spread it all over my face and neck. Although this comes in the same size and type of bottle (same dropper hole too) that the essential oils come in, I could definitely tell the consistency was that of a serum, not of an oil. It is similarly watery as the oils- it’s not an ultra thick serum. The scent is light and somewhat relaxing. I know some of the oils have super potent scents, but there is none of that here. I pick up on a bit of the lavender and cedarwood and maybe a touch of spice from the clove but the scent is rather faint.

In terms of hydrating, this stuff is top notch. I was really, really impressed by how smooth and soft my skin felt. My skin feels plumped from the inside out, hydrated, and replenished after only one use. My mind immediately went to my L’Occitane Divine Youth Oil and how similar my skin felt after using it. That stuff is $106 an oz. so the cost comparison is pretty vast and I would be spending about $40 for the same amount of product from YL. I’m also addicted to the scent of the Immortelle and while I love the scent of the YL, I really REALLY love the scent of Immortelle. I did notice online that Doterra has an Immortelle blend, but I’m not familiar with that.

In terms of what this is doing for your skin long term, I don’t know. I will continue to use it and if anything remarkable happens I’ll let you know. I’m of the opinion that I often need harsher chemicals to fight things like fine lines, wrinkles, acne, dark spots, and anti-aging so if I feel like I’m losing traction in those categories by using the natural stuff, I’m sure I’ll switch back to a different brand. For now I’m having fun checking out Young Living’s skincare line.

Thanks for introducing me to these. It was trying your peppermint and getting rid of a headache almost immediately that convinced me I needed some in my life. I really like this face serum too!

I’m so glad this review helped you. And you know what? I totally forgot I had it! I think I’ll pull it back out again. I was really enjoying it while I was using it, but then I put my Essential Rewards on hold for a while and I forgot about a lot of my oils. I have several oils I need to repurchase now, and a replenish of this is on my list too!
