I usually love to wear makeup, but now that it’s June and we have nice weather nearly every day, I often go without. When you know you are going to be going to the pool or running around outside with your kids, sometimes it doesn’t pay to put on a full face of makeup. I am 29 and don’t have wrinkles yet but I really do feel more myself when I wear makeup. So how do I keep confident on no-makeup days? Read on for a few of my tips.
1) Drink lots of water. I try to carry around a water bottle during the day and refill it constantly. When I stay well hydrated, my skin tends to glow and look moisturized, and even my skin tone looks more even. Water is nature’s foundation for the face!
2) Wear SPF. Simply avoiding the sun is not enough. Wearing sun protection is super important year-round, but especially in the summer. Minimizing sun damage to your face allows you to put your best face forward on those no-makeup days.
3) Smile. I may not have bright pink lipstick on, but I can look just as pretty if I smile. In the words of Audrey Hepburn, “Happy girls are the prettiest girls.”
4) Eat a diet rich in fruits and vegetables. It’s hard to eat healthy all the time, but my skin always cooperates when I do. The warm-weather months make it easy to eat delicious, leafy greens and fresh fruits because all of that beautiful produce is in season right now.
5) Use great skincare that targets your needs. Even on no-makeup days, I wear my skincare. I have a specific regimen I use that targets my skin’s concerns, some of which are anti-aging, dryness, and dark spots.
