I luuuuurve me some high end makeup, so I was excited to be able to give some of Charlotte Tilbury’s makeup line a whirl. It’s relatively newly available in the U.S. and many products have been labeled cult classics. I was so excited even seeing the packaging. It’s very retro looking and sleek. Take a look for yourself!
I tried a Swish and Pop Blush and a Filmstars on the Go palette. If thought the packaging was gorgeous before, it was breathtaking to open these and look inside. I love how Charlotte Tilbury’s name is engraved on the inside, almost like a signature on her art work.
The Swish and Pop Blush is in the shade The Climax, and features two shades of blush that are meant to be worn by “swishing” the brush around the outer shade and running the color up the cheek bone starting from the apple of the cheek, and the “pop” is achieved by dipping into the center color and applying it to the apples of the cheeks. You can then blend everything seamlessly together.
It retails at $40, which I can honestly say I would pay to purchase more of these. When it comes to blush, so many new and amazing blushers have come out in recent years that I’m just not interested in a plain old flat color on my cheeks anymore. Here you are getting a pearlescent, illuminating glow on top of a fresh, beautiful shade. The application method is in two parts (the swish and the pop) and the texture of these is so creamy considering they are powder. I just can’t imagine anyone not loving these. At first glance, The Climax seemed WAY too dark for me, but a light dusting of this translates to a gorgeous spice on me that looks gorgeous with pale skin but will really glow on a tan this summer.
It’s obvious to me that Charlotte Tilbury is trying to recreate “the glow” considering the names of the six shades she has- First Love, Ecstasy, Sex on Fire, Love is the Drug, Love Glow, and The Climax. I wish I could have captured exactly how beautiful these were- I tried to put them in sunlight to show you but you’ll have to see them in person- there is Light Flex Technology that captures light and re-emits it, and the pigments here are rolled into finely crushed pearls. They are SO pretty.
Filmstars on the Go in Breakfast at Tiffany’s is meant to be a dual use palette for a quick makeup look. The two products are creams that are sheer and buildable on the lips and the eyes. The shades I have are a shimmering bronze eyeshadow and a soft apricot lip/cheek stain. It is definitely not too high impact for daytime wear, but I can build upon it for something more dramatic at night.
The eyeshadow in this duo is very sheer and I don’t need a primer with it. In fact, I tried it with my usual primer and it didn’t work out. Applying with my fingers was the preferred method for both the eyes and lips. The eye color is slightly buildable and the bronze shade looks less like makeup to me, and more like a very subtle enhancement of my natural features. The color seems to melt into my eyelids and it is slightly shimmery but mostly gives off the naturally pretty vibe and is barely there. There is also anti-aging Apricot Seed Oil in the formula!
The lip and cheek shade is a lovely apricot color and slightly waxy. It contains BerryFlux Vita which increases the dermal and epidermal Hyaluronic Acid that drenches the skin with moisture, and a special Microfine pigment technology that makes sure your lip color stays gorgeous all day. It applies in a thin layer to the lips, and I did notice it lasted several hours. As it faded away it left a slight stain to my lips. It is also slightly moisturizing.
At $55, Filmstars on the Go palettes are a definite splurge. I see myself using this most in the summer when the only things I will need to pop in my bag after the beach are some tinted BB cream, a mascara, and one of these palettes. With a palette like this, I can feel very Audrey Hepburn even when I am throwing together a quick makeup look. I love the luxurious feel of the packaging too. I just feel so pretty and put together when I wear it AND when I’m just holding it!
If you’re into luxury makeup, these two products by Charlotte Tilbury are definitely something to check out. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed using them!

The next products I want to try from Charlotte Tilbury are her Lip Magic Rejuvenating Smoothing Lip Balm that I read about on Makeup Obsessed Mom, the Beach Stick that I read about on My Newest Addiction, The Filmstar Bronze and Glow that I read about on Norah Loves Makeup, the Rock Chic Luxury Palette I read about on The Fabzilla (those swatches!), and lastly Bitch Perfect lipstick that I read about on Cosmetics Aficionado!
When dabbling into a new and very upscale brand I definitely like to read reviews from my favorite bloggers before making a splurge!
Have you tried any of these products? What should I try next?
