Boo…my site was down all day so I was unable to post this on Friday morning as intended, however better late than never, and it’s not really Valentine’s Day until Saturday hits, so there. Because these are soooo pretty I wanted to share them before the big holiday. There is something about gorgeous packaging in makeup that makes me swoon. I’m actually planning a big post on makeup items that are worthy if not only for their beautiful packaging. When makeup is good on its own, that’s fabulous, but when it’s pretty to boot, well…that’s even better. Bésame Cosmetics has some of the prettiest packaging out there, and since it reminded me of Valentine’s Day I wanted to be sure to let you know about them stat!
I have two items from them that I have been enjoying. Crimson Cream Rouge and 1955- Exotic Pink lipstick. Both have the beautiful gold accented vintage packaging that I adore.
Crimson Cream Rouge is a gorgeous blue based red. It can be worn on the lips and on the cheeks. It’s pigmented as all get out. On the lips I can build up a couple of layers and it is the prettiest red on me. Despite being super pretty on the lips it was pretty drying over time. Within an hour of wearing it I felt like it was clinging to my lips and drying them out to the point I decided to remove it with a lip scrub. Unfortunately, because I have dry skin and this is highly pigmented and drying, you can guess that it didn’t work well on my cheeks either. The packaging was a little awkward as well and I had some trouble getting the lid opened and closed.
The good news is that a little dab will do ya, so if you love the formula, it will last you forever!
Shown below is the 1955- Exotic Pink lipstick. It’s not quite a matte and not quite a satin, but somewhere in between. This lip color is super pigmented, goes on smoothly, and lasts forever. It also didn’t dry my lips out! I was pleasantly surprised that it left behind a gorgeous pink stain when it was fading away and I got some compliments. I wore it one Friday to my daughter’s play time and another mom commented that I always look nice in bright lipstick. Yay!
I was in Sephora yesterday and noticed that they had their brightening face powders for sale in store. I didn’t grab one but I love that this brand is at Sephora now! The powder had the same packaging as the lid of the Crimson Rouge.
I really liked trying out this brand. I would totally buy ore of the lipsticks! Have you tried anything? Do you like the vintage lipstick look?
