I have eleventy billion hand creams, but today I want to show you what I think is my most heavy duty. It’s the C.O. Bigelow Chapped Hands Remedy. I’m a major fan of C.O. Bigelow products- they used to be sold at my Bath & Body Works way back in the day so I have tried several! They might still be at select B&BW but regardless, this is a product you will want to check out if you have seriously dry hands.
This is a medicated skin protectant for all-year round use with 40.3% glycerin for extra hydration! The formula promotes healing of rough, dry skin with super high levels of glycerin to draw moisture into the skin and make it feel soft and subtle. It moisturizes to help cracked, irritated skin and works to prevent future chapping, guarding hands against dry, cold and windy conditions.
Although it can be used year round, I’m sure people get the most use out of this in the winter months. Of all the hand lotions I have going right now, I ALWAYS know where this one is (in my diaper bag). On those days where it’s just bitterly cold out and I can feel the cold biting into my skin, I need this. Have you ever had skin so dry and cracked that it started bleeding? I have and this is the ticket. Since it’s medicated, it’s the consistency of a salve, thick and a clear-ish color. I use a generous dallop on my hands and as I work it in it goes from being clear to a whitish color before absorbing completely into my skin.
You can see below how parched, dry, and red my hands are, despite repeated lotion use:
The Chapped Hands Remedy makes a remarkable difference in the way my skin looks and feels! It has a medicated pepperminty scent to it that I don’t mind, but it fades after a few minutes. Since I have two kids in diapers PLUS it’s cold season, I feel like I’m washing my hands multiple times an hour lately. The constant washing really dries them out and I find myself reaching for this all the time to add a medicated protectant to my hands.
C.O. Bigelow also has a Chapped Hands Soap-Free Cleanser that I will be investigating next.
Have you ever tried this? I LOVE it. A total must for the winter months.
