BECCA has had an amazing all in one brush called THE ONE Perfecting Brush out for a little while. I was going to buy it when it first came out but decided to hold out and read reviews to see if all of the hype was worth it. It’s been out for over a year now and I’ve heard a lot of great things about it so I’m excited to get to tell you more about it today! This brush claims to cut makeup application time in half by replacing 10 other brushes and tools.

This is supposed to be able to be used with liquids, creams, powders, and anything in between. The density of the brush creates a smooth, even, and airbrushed application every time, flat edges fit the linear contours of your face, and curved corners allow for a targeted and precise application. You can use this effectively as a foundation brush, powder brush, contour brush, bronzer brush, stipple brush, blush brush, fan brush, concealer brush, kabuki, or sponge. The natural hair is non porous and the product will sit on top of the bristles rather than absorbing, allowing you to work with the product without it soaking into the brush.
Obviously, this is such an intriguing design as I don’t think any brush out on the market has ever claimed so many uses. I have been testing this out for several weeks in different ways and in my opinion, this is a really nice brush for many of these uses.
The foundation I use most lately is the Laura Mercier Smooth Finish Flawless Fluide Foundation. I have really enjoyed applying it with my fingers over my face and using THE ONE to spread it around for a more airbrushed finish. Although the bristles won’t absorb the product, I prefer to apply it to my face and spread it with the brush, rather than applying it directly from the brush. I find that it kicks up too much facial powder to be all that good of a brush with pressed powder, but with loose powder it works well. It works GREAT as a contour brush, and really gets into the hollows of your cheeks, your hairline, and down the sides of your nose. This is my favorite way to use it. I also enjoying using it with highlighter!
Because this will be dirty with many different products by the time I’m done using it for the day, I need to wash it before every use. If I was only using it for foundation or only for bronzer, I could get several uses out of it before needing to clean it. It works best if I use it in a specific order as well. I like to use it with foundation, swiping this in both directions across my whole face, and follow with my powder. After, I like to use it with my bronzer/contour and work the product into the hollows of my cheeks, around my hairline, down the sides of my nose, and underneath my jaw. My favorite illuminator of the moment is liquid, so I apply it with my fingers, then use this brush to kind of blend the whole look together. I use about half the brush to apply blush to my cheeks as well. My order goes from lightest to darkest basically- except illuminator can get tricky because you don’t want to get the brush all murky and then try and apply a light product with a dirty brush. Depending on what the brush looks like at the moment, I may or may not use this for applying highlighter.
My absolute favorite use of this brush is for contouring, and I think it works better with powder over liquid in general.
