If anyone would like to stage an illuminator intervention, I think it’s high time I’m hauled away. I officially admit I have a self control problem when it comes to luminizers. I am drawn to them like moth to flame. I can’t quit! I was placing an Ulta order a couple months ago and when I saw that I could sample three of the mini liquid skin perfectors I eagerly added them to my shopping cart. I am all for trying a smaller size since I rarely use anything up before moving on to my next obsession.
At first I was confused about what these were. They are called the Shimmering Skin Perfector Spotlights. As far as I can tell, these are the same as the Shimmering Skin Perfector. The mini sizes that I have come in Pearl, Champagne Gold, and Opal. The larger Shimmering Skin Perfector comes in Pearl, Moonstone, Opal, Rosegold, and Topaz. I am a little confused as to why the little guys have an oddball shade (champagne gold) that doesn’t appear to be in the regular line. So maybe they are different? Or that shade is limited edition. I guess it will remain a mystery!
I love that there are skincare benefits. Avocado oil acts as an antioxidant and emollient. Witch Hazel tightens the skin and reduces inflammation and redness. Aloe Extract soothes the skin. Vitamins A, B, D, and E guard against daily damage and free radicals. These are things I don’t really expect from a highlighting product, but hey I’ll take it!
I appreciated that I was able to try three of these shades for $25. I think that’s a fair price. These are pretty small but they pack a lot of punch. I almost think too much product comes off the wand with each application. Below is each shade swatched once, directly out from the wand to my hand, without scraping any excess product off onto the side of the tube.
I think these are so iridescent! The Pearl is my favorite and it almost appears to glow. I have been getting the most milage out of Opal and Pearl, but I think I may be able to swing Champagne Gold with a bit of sunless tanner. It just doesn’t seem to flatter my skin much as it’s kind of yellow and I’m so fair it makes me look jaundiced. The other shades though…pure perfection. It’s not often I run across an ice-white highlight like Pearl. I’m pretty fair but I think this would look phenomenal on someone with skin like Snow White. I would skip bronzer forever if I could just bathe my cheek bones in this shade. Embrace the pasty!
Here they are blended out. I have been loving wearing these blended out on my cheekbones, on my brow bones, and cupid’s bow. They are so subtle, and not super shimmery like the pressed powder versions of these. I have really been enjoying these!
Have you seen these in stores? Will you be indulging?
