I took my camera in this week because my SD card reader is showing an error message. The nice people at Best Buy didn’t even TRY to fix it, they are just giving me a new camera! I’m confused why they didn’t fix it but I’m just going with it, and that gives me NO excuse but to finish up a bunch of posts I had waiting in the wings this week. When I was getting ready this morning, I wore this foundation and immediately decided since I had taken pictures of it already it would be the next thing I reviewed. I love it, have been wearing it constantly, and would feel like a jerk if I didn’t share! Read on to learn more about YSL Fusion Ink Foundation!

Let me be the first to say how much I love all of these new foundations that are out in recent months. It seems like the new trend in liquid foundation is to have an ultra thin, lightweight formula that is like your skin, but better. Gone are the days of the thick, heavy foundation that sits in fine lines. I had absolutely no intention of trying or buying this formula until I made another purchase at Sephora and when it came in the mail, a sample packet of this foundation was included. This was a couple months ago in the thick of the summer. I open the little foil packet and applied it with my fingers and went about my business. After realizing how soft my face was all day and how flawless my skin looked, I knew I would have to own it for myself. My Sephora in store only carried two shades, but the shade pictured here, BD20 Warm Ivory, actually ended up being perfect for me. There are 21 shades online, and the shades range from super light (I’m pale and I wear the 5th lightest shade) to pretty dark. I think it will be easy for most people to find a match. The way I apply it is by taking the wand and applying a streak to my forehead, cheeks, nose, and chin. I blend it all in with my fingers and then reassess the foundation situation. If I want a little more coverage, I will go through the same steps again. When I wear this, I wear it alone and don’t use powder. I also apply it with my fingers. I have tried using a brush or a beauty blender, and actually prefer the way it looks when I use my fingers.
This foundation feels really silky on the skin. After application, I can’t feel or see it, but my skin looks perfect. For reference, my skin type is combination/dry. Is it long wearing? I would think so because I basically can convince myself I’m not wearing any makeup when I’m wearing this. My skin looks perfect but literally doesn’t look like I’m wearing anything at all. I’ve worn this during the humidity of the summer, during a season change, in cool weather, and while power walking at the gym, and it’s stood up to it all. Color me impressed!
The only not so amazing thing about this foundation is the price tag. At $60 it will make you choke a little bit. If you are anything like me, you’d rather pay half that amount for a great foundation. But hear me out- if there’s ever one beauty item you should splurge on, it should be your foundation. It sits on your skin all day and your face is what people look at first when they see you. It’s a good splurge item or something to save for when Sephora is having a sale. For me personally, I justified it because it was the week before I had my baby and I was ultra mega stressed. I really needed to treat myself and I had the funds set aside to do so.
Would you splurge on this? Have you tried it?
