I recently picked up the Urban Decay Vice 3 palette and wanted to share my thoughts with you on this gorgeous palette. At first glance, I thought it was nothing special, but once I started looking at it a little more carefully, I knew it was a must have for me.
The palette is encased in this gorgeous zipper pouch. I like it because it keeps the palette together and god forbid if it breaks, the mess would stay concentrated into its little pouch.
The palette comes with a cute little double ended brush. I normally don’t use the brushes that come with palettes because they’re not that nice. This one is decent but not awesome. I would use it in a pinch but when I’m at home and not traveling, I just use my other favorite eye shadow brushes instead!
Ok, now on to the pretty palette! What I love about it is that the whole first row (vertically) is nude shades. The second row is basically worthless to me besides the shade Brokedown because I can’t see myself wearing the blues and greens regularly. The next two rows have varying shades of purples and pinks (purple is my favorite color, so yay!) and a couple pretty neutrals. The last row has some smoky shades that are sooo pretty. So nudes, jewel tones, and smoky shades all in one palette, and I am a happy girl.
Truth, Undone, Downfall, DTFDragon, Freeze, Heroine, BrokedownVanity, Lucky, Reign, Bobby DazzleAlien, Alchemy, Bondage, SonicLast Sin, Angel, Defy, RevolverWhile I was at Sephora picking this up and feeling sneaky because I totally snagged their tester before they put it out, I decided to pick up another eye shadow primer. I had been using MAC Painterly Paint Pot for the past year or so but recently it stopped being as awesome. I didn’t use it a lot this summer because I don’t wear a ton of makeup in the summer, but when I pulled it back out the other day I realized I just don’t like it as much. I think my skin is so different now that I am back in Wisconsin and not in Washington anymore, that the paint pot just doesn’t work well for me anymore. It was looking kind of meh and not holding eyeshadow as well. Urban Decay Primer Potion in Eden is an old favorite and I am looking forward to giving it another try.
You need so little of this, I probably grabbed a blob big enough for eight eyeballs with this, so oops. As you can see below, it covers and color corrects a bunch! It’s like wearing concealer on your eyes that extends the life of your eyeshadow.
Below, I swatched the shade Alchemy from the Vice 3 Palette and you can see primer makes a pretty huge difference. The top swatch is with no primer, and the bottom swatch is over top of Urban Decay Primer Potion in Eden. Eyeshadows worn over primer tend to look more vibrant and last longer as well!
Have you gotten your hands on Urban Decay’s Vice 3 yet? What do you think?
