Today I have a beautiful holiday gift set to show you by tarte called “Away Oui Go.” It’s no secret that if you love makeup the holidays is the BEST time to shop. There are so many fabulous gift sets out right now that allow you to try several brand favorites as well as get some awesome limited edition stuff that is not available at any other time of the year. This particular gift set is a great way to test out tarte’s blushes, eyeshadows, mascara, and lipsurgence at a low price!

I’ll start by talking about the packaging. The box this comes in is so cute. It’s a thicker cardboard type box and kind of bulky, but it’s super cute and my favorite colors so I don’t mind. This would look cute on a vanity!
When you open the box, there are some things in there you can pop out to use. The purple striped thing everything is sitting in is plastic and pops out easily. The little quilted compact opens up to reveal a mirror and a place to set the eyeshadow/blush palettes individually for travel. It’s super cute. I love the pearl accents. Tarte really knows how to make everything look exciting and adorable. The lipsurgence and mascara pop out as well!
As you can see, the little palette compact is about the size of my hand! Admittedly, I don’t tow around eyeshadow and blush to touch up in my purse, but this is perfect travel size for a weekend away. I would be slightly worried that it doesn’t magnet shut, but they had a similar set last year for the holidays and I traveled with the compact a few times and never had an issue.
Tarte’s Lights, Camera, LASHES mascara is one of my all time favorites. This mascara lengthens, curls, conditions, and volumizes the lashes. I’m a huge fan of how it makes my lashes look. You will get a deluxe sample size in the kit, which is more than enough to determine if you will love it.
I also love the waterproof version, Lights, Camera, FLASHES. When I transferred my blog over to WordPress, a bunch of my old pictures got stretched out funny which is SUPER depressing because it will take me forever to go through and fix each post. But, in this post you can still see beyond the blur how awesome this mascara is. I love it!
You get three deluxe minis of lipsurgence too, in limited edition shades! This past summer I reviewed tarte’s new lipsurgence but these are different shades and probably limited edition for this set, based upon the names of the shades. I also love the super cute printed tubes these come in.
These are pretty typical for the lipsurgence formula. They are vanilla scented and just slightly sticky. Instead of a doe foot applicator, these have a little brush on the end. Mine came molded into a single plastic looking tip which was kind of confusing, then I later realized you can work the bristles apart and it’s actually a brush.
Swatches L-R: Nice, Cannes, Paris
Next, you have the eyeshadows and blushes. I love that they take the guess work out of mixing and matching blushes and shadows. The names of all the shades are kind of quirky since they go with the “Away Oui Go” theme- they are all names of travel destinations around the world. Each palette lifts out and will easily fit into the blue quilted compact.
L-R:Champs- Élysées shopping, stargazing on the Seine, Eiffel Tower engagement, secret soiree, limitless
I love the peach toned blush in this set. I also love the mix of shimmer and matte shades! My favorite is the silver in Stargazing on the Seine.
L-R: private chateau, café for creme brúlée, tea for two, marvel at the Mona Lisa, irresistable
This one is probably my favorite. The shades remind me of the original Naked Basics palette! I also love the dolly pink blush.
L-R: snow angels in the parc, navigating the Métro, midnight stroll, liaison at the Louvre, intrigue
This set of shades is fairly similar to the first one I showed you. The white shade here is pretty frosty though and probably the most shimmery shade in the whole kit!
L-R: macarons for you, champagne & chocolat, kisses under the Arc, art in Montmartre, envisioned
This set of shades reminds me a lot of the Naked 3 palette. There is a lot of rose gold-y goodness here. I like the shades in this set individually, but wonder how I would create a good eye look. I wish there was a slightly darker crease shade here.
All in all, great palette and great value. I love that these holiday kits give you the opportunity to sample several different parts of tarte’s line. There are some great products in here, and for $48 you really can’t beat it!
I also want to mention, I am tagging everything I am reviewing for the holidays under “holiday 2014” in my tags. They appear at the top of every post. I normally sort things by beauty, skincare, makeup, and occasionally by brand if it’s one I review often. Click on the tag to see all the posts in that category. So if you click on “holiday 2014,” everything I have reviewed for the holidays will show up. Most of that stuff ends up being limited edition, so if it’s something you are excited for, act now!
