This will probably be the quickest post ever for a fun new launch. We are in the process of moving and I am only one and a half weeks from baby! Needless to say I’m super busy today but I did want to take a quick 5-10 and post on this new palette. I went back and forth on whether or not I wanted the Urban Decay Naked 2 Basics palette for about 24 hours then decided that I did want it and quick scooped it up. I have a tendency to go back and forth on things like this and by the time I decide that I want it, it’s no longer available and sold out for weeks. Meet my new and beautiful matte palette, Naked 2 Basics!

At first glance, a palette like this one might not seem that exciting. I don’t often wear this by itself. I find that the Naked Basics palettes (1 & 2) are good for wearing alone if you are a huge fan of matte neutrals, but they’re also really great for crease shades in just about any eye shadow look you can think of. Many palettes with fun and exciting colors and shimmers totally leave out a deep matte neutral shade, and that’s where these can come into play.

urban decay naked 2 basicsNaked Basics 2 is a little different from Naked Basics in that it’s cool toned and doesn’t have a matte black. At first I didn’t think it was different enough to warrant needing both palettes. I’ll let you take a peek at both of them side by side below.

naked basics 1 and 2I have gotten a lot of use out of Naked Basics since I’ve owned it but don’t always use the shades as is. I have always found that Faint and Crave work best on me when I blend the shades together with a brush and use it for my crease. Of the lightest shades, Venus is a nice light shade, but Foxy and W.O.S. are both really similar to my natural skin tone and almost blend in to invisibility. Naked 2 is a shade I have gotten a lot of use out of, but I often blend that with Faint as well to make it a little darker.

One thing that was holding me back from getting Naked 2 Basics was the fact that the bloggers who swatched it online had darker skin than I do. The darker browns blended into their skin into near invisibility much like the lighter shades of Naked Basics tend to blend into mine. In Naked 2 Basics, Skimp reminds me a lot of Venus, Stark is similar to W.O.S. and Frisk, Cover, Primal, and Undone are all totally different from one another. Undone is the color I get when I mix Faint and Crave from Naked Basics. There is so much to choose from here!

I’m really loving this palette. I’m so glad I got it! I will post some more pictures a little bit later when I’m not swamped from moving. The texture and consistency feels exactly like that of Naked Basics. These shadows are silky and long wearing. They last all day with a primer on my lids. I’m impressed!

Is a launch you’ll be indulging in? This was a total win for me and I think all my fair skinned lady friends will be loving these shades.

It doesn’t have enough contrast for my taste. The original works better for my skintone. Great swatches!

I think it is a pretty palette, but since I still haven’t even opened my Naked Basics that I bought months ago, I am not allowed to buy Naked 2. I’m glad you’re loving it.

I have all three of the full-size ones so I wouldn’t need this but it’s great for travel.

I really like how you have a picture of them side by side and the basics 2 would probably work best with me

I don’t have either of the Basics palettes, but I love the idea. The more I learn about makeup, the more I like having a matte or two to complete an eye look.
