I was backlogged on reviews from summer time and so I asked my mom to help me review some skin care. After reading her review of L’Oreal Youth Code I am so jealous I asked her to review it, and should have kept it for myself. I am always on the lookout for products that combat dark spots and fight anti aging and so I had her test out the Youth Code Serum Corrector and Day Cream with Sunscreen. Check out her thoughts below!

For several weeks this summer, I have been using Youth Code Dark Spot Correcting and Illuminating Serum Corrector by L’Oreal. This was my first ever experience with a serum as opposed to using a moisturizer on its own. I did not expect there to be a huge difference but after researching the benefits of serums, I have changed my opinion. Serums give added moisture and nutrients to skin and reach deeper layers that regular moisturizers cannot. The serum goes on smooth and evenly. It is not greasy and is noncomedogenic. It gives my skin an almost firmer feel without feeling stiff. The product claims are more luminous skin with faded age spots and acne marks within just a few weeks. As I look in the mirror with no makeup I do feel like my skin looks brighter and has an even skin tone.
In conjunction with the serum I used the Youth Code Day Cream which has a broad spectrum SPF 30 sunscreen. This too is claimed to produce more even skin tone by minimizing dark spots. By contrast to the serum, the day cream is thick and rich. It takes a while to soak in, and has a silvery glow in the meantime. If you are in a hurry to get your makeup on then this is not for you. If you have time it is worth the wait for softer, smoother skin. My only complaint is after using the day cream on my neck I need to wipe it off after a few minutes because it almost acts like an exfoliator and gets balled up.
One of the main ingredients is Castanea Sativa which is chestnut seed extract. As a cosmetic ingredient, chestnut seeds have softening, antioxidant properties.
I will continue using both of these until they are gone to see if there are even more benefits with continued use.
For reference, my mom is in her early 50s. She uses mostly high end skincare so if she was impressed by a drugstore option, I am definitely taking note. Also, I can’t believe she has never tried a serum! It’s like we’re not even related! (I’m obsessed with serums).
Have you tried this? Would you? Even though we are headed into Fall, I still like to wear a sunscreen daily, and ALWAYS a serum.
