I’ve loved everything I’ve tried from Ardency Inn from the primer and Custom Coverage Concentrate to the Club Remix lip vinyl I’ve become obsessed with. When I got the Natural Lip Color Pencil in Delancey, I knew I’d love that too!

Delancey is a fair nude with pink undertones and is the lightest of the five shades in their Natural Lip Color Pencil range. The formula is silky smooth and soft and hydrates my lips to no end! If you look at the shade below, it almost completely matches my skin tone. I could practically use it as a concealer!

ardency inn delancey 2.jpgFor that reason, when I wear it on my lips, it almost blanks them out. If I put a little bit of a nude-brown lipgloss over top, like Buxom Mudslide, it gives the Kardashian effect. A perfectly glossy, nude, shiny lip. But that’s so predictable! I decided to play with this color a little bit and took one of my Inglot Freedom System Matte Lipsticks and put it just in the center of my top and bottom lip for a sort of ombre effect.

I thought this gave such a fun effect. By itself, Delancey is not as flattering on me. But if I play a little bit, I think it’s such a fun shade! I don’t have any other lipsticks that match my skin tone this perfectly. The formula is so smooth and amazing that there was no way I wasn’t going to get it to work for me!

ardency inn ombre 3.jpgAfter a couple hours of wear, eating and drinking, the ombre effect wore off and ended up spreading to the whole lip. Instead of just having pink centered lips, my entire lip area took on the color. It gave me the idea to use this shade to mix and lighten other lip shades that might be too dark on me, or just to give a different effect to any lipstick!

I’m by no means a makeup artist but this was a fun effect to create. Do you do anything fun with your lipstick? I’d love to hear your tips and tricks!

Great idea on mixing it w/ another color. I don’t think this shade matches me either, I’ll look like a ghost 🙂

I would usually give up on a lipstick that looks corpse-y on me but it feels so soft on my lips that I had to find a way!
