I don’t shop at MAC often or keep up with their collections because I know it would be bad for my wallet! My last big MAC purchase was last summer, when the Heroine collection was calling my name. I’m a sucker for purple and that shade is perfection. I’m so happy they brought it to their line for keeps now. Anyway, I was reading blog reviews the other day online and I stumbled upon MAC’s new Alluring Aquatic collection, and saw some swatches of Goddess of the Sea and I just KNEW I had to have it. So I snapped it up and today I’m going to show you!

mac goddess of the seaLike I said, I’m a sucker for purples, so the first thing that strikes me about this lipstick is the gorgeous purple shade. It’s described as a dark, vibrant, violet. The shade is unique in that it will look completely different now when I have a tan than in the winter when I am pale. I think it looks a little more every day natural in the summer and in the winter it will look a little more vampy.

The other thing that strikes me about this shade is obviously the packaging. I mean, seriously! Look at it, it’s gorgeous! Both the cardboard packaging and the tube are a lovely metallic teal color and there are raised up water droplets all over the tube. I am obsessed with how gorgeous the tube is. It almost wouldn’t even matter what the shade inside was!

mac goddess of the sea 2I only own a couple MAC lipsticks but this one is the Cremesheen formula. I have read in reviews that within that specific formula everything is vanilla scented. Goddess of the Sea is no exception. It has a lovely vanilla scent, but no taste. I find the formula to be hydrating as well! This shade lasts for 4-5 hours on me and fades a little bit after eating or drinking.

mac goddess of the sea swatchThe swatch above is a few swipes of this built up. It looks like a medium plum with cooler undertones, above although when I wear it in certain lighting it comes across as more pinky-purple. In the swatch on my lips below, the lighting is a bit yellow but it does accurately reflect what the shade looks like on me.

mac goddess of the sea swatch 2I am totally in love with this shade! I think it’s the perfect purple for summer. Have you picked up Goddess of the Sea yet? Are you planning on it?

It is SO hard to keep up with MAC but this was definitely a collection to get on board with. I ended up with about 75% of it!

That packaging is everything. I’m so glad you modeled the lippie, though, because it looks so different on the lips! It’s a very wearable purple.
