I have a ton of thick, coarse, and wavy textured hair, so keeping it healthy is a challenge. My favorite type of hair product is hair oils, because they tend to keep my coarse hair soft and more manageable. I have quite the collection of hair oils, so today I thought I’d share some of my favorites and why I like them so much! For reference, I normally use these on towel dried hair and I air dry much of the time. I also use them to tame flyaways.

Moroccanoil is an old favorite of mine that I don’t think I’ll ever get sick of. I’ve been using this for at least 5 years now. This is my holy grail hair product that I compare pretty much everything else to. It smells nice and makes my hair super soft. I like to put this in damp hair before I blow dry. Over the years they have developed a pump top for the bottle, and come out with a light formulation which is also pretty nice.

Josie Maran 100% Pure Argan Oil is a lightweight oil that can be used pretty much anywhere. I normally like to use this on my skin but whenever I get it out I use the extra to tame flyaways as well. This is really affordable and is almost always a perk at Sephora, so if you spend your cash there, be sure to pick up a sample sometime! This comes in a regular and a light formula.

Alterna Caviar Anti-Aging Omega+ Nourishing Oil is a newer favorite of mine. It contains highly concentrated Omega 3s and C-22 fatty acids to nourish hair. I am newer to the Alterna line but it has become a fast favorite. The products smell so fresh, almost like fresh rain. This particular oil leaves my hair so hydrated and smooth that I just love it. Over time, I would be curious about the anti-aging effects that it claims to have!

UNITE Shina Liquid Gloss makes my hair SO shiny and soft. This is probably the biggest shine booster of all the products I will mention in this post. I really love the scent, which smells sugary sweet, and when I apply it before blowdrying it leaves my hair looking fabulous.

L’Occitane Repairing Oil can be used in many different ways- before shampoo, before blow-drying, or on dry hair. I’ve used it in all three ways but my favorites are right after my shower and on dry hair. The essential oil combination here is rosemary and lavender and I almost pick up on something that smells like hemp. I love the entire hair care line from L’Occitane but I especially love this! It leaves my hair smelling and feeling fantastic and the plastic bottle is just the right size for travel for me.

TIGI Catwalk Sleek Mystique Blow Out Balm is the product that I’ve probably been using the longest out of anything. The dragon fruit and bamboo scent is to die for. I use this right before blowdrying for silky soft hair that feels ultra hydrated. The first time I used this was in the fall of 2009 right around the time I met my husband. We met in September and I had just gotten my first bottle of this at the time. For that reason the scent seems very romantic to me and it reminds me of fall. I love what it does for my hair and this is one of my favorites!

Goldwell Elixir Versatile Oil Treatment has argan and tamanu oils. This is a lighter oil but works really well for my hair when I just need a little something. I think it would be great on shorter hair than mine, although I really enjoy it when I’m not dragging around an extra 6 inches of hair like I am right now. I need a haircut badly!

Pick up some of these products and/or read more below! I’d love to know which ones you’ve tried or what you use.

I have dry and fine hair, have to be so careful or it’s too heavy. Lately I just rub the leftover coconut oil I use on my face and body onto the ends of my hair and the amount is perfect!

As much as I love hair oil, I can’t believe I haven’t tried any of these. Right now, I’m using the Perfect 10 (it’s a miracle) serum, and it’s amazing. I love how it makes my hair feel – a little thicker, but stronger and softer. And my curls feel great. I’ll often touch up the ends with Bamboo oil or Hairtrition Hair oil when it’s dry, usually before bedtime, so I wake up with silky, soft hair. (also, I know it’s not sexy, but have you tried sleeping with a satin hair bonnet? I think it’s the best thing I’ve ever done for my hair!)

Hair oils are such a necessity for me! I love how silky they make my hair. I REALLY want to try Moroccan Oil because I KNOW it works just by reading a million reviews, I just find it so pricey!
