Staying Sun Safe on Memorial Daypress sample, bought for myself, affiliate links
The warm weather seems to have crept up on us in Wisconsin, after what was a very long winter. We had some super chilly days well into May but it seems that warm weather is now here to stay. Today as I was driving my husband to work (we are currently sharing a car- hopefully the situation is short lived) and at 7 am the sun’s rays were already burning through the windshield at me I thought it was about time to pull out the sunscreen. After all, we are approaching Memorial Day weekend, and to me that has always marked the beginning of summer!
I listed some products that are long time favorites, some that I am currently testing, and some that I’ve heard great things about to help you stay sun safe this Memorial Day. I hope you enjoy and let me know if I skipped over your favorite! I am super annoying to my family and keep sunscreen in both vehicles, the house, my purse, and everywhere I can think of. I’m sure if I learn of a new must have I will find room for it somewhere!
L’Occitane’s Jenipapo Face Protection Veil is an SPF 30 matte finish fluid that I’m currently testing out. I will have a review on it soon! So far I can tell you that it smells fresh and light and amazing and is a fruity floral. It contains jenipapo extract from the Cerrado region in the heart of Brazil. I have a few products from this line that I’m testing right now and I’m super excited about the line. Now that I live near a L’Occitane store I’ve already been in there twice since this launch to sniff everything. It’s all SO amazing!
It Cosmetics YSBB CC Cream with SPF 50+ is a great choice if you are looking for sunscreen coverage as well as a foundation/CC cream. I get great coverage out of this and I love the way it feels on my skin. I reviewed it here if you care to read more about it!
Supergoop!’s brand new product is the Sun-Defying Sunscreen Oil SPF 50 and is something I’m very excited to try this season. It’s water-resistant, non-greasy, and has broad-spectrum and antioxidant protection, prevents moisture loss and enhances skin hydration. I have never tried a sunscreen oil before so I am very intrigued by this product. In fact, if you want to check it out, it’s being offered as a value set for $26 starting on Tuesday, May 27th while supplies last. You will receive both the full size 4 oz and the travel friendly 1 oz which is a 38% added value. It’s exclusive to QVC,, Sephora stores nationwide and
Laura Mercier’s Foundation Primer Protect Broad Spectrum SPF 30 looks like a really nice lightweight option for those looking for an oil free primer this summer. I tried her Radiance Bronze primer recently and really love the warmth thad added to my skin. I am such a fan of Laura Mercier products I feel like I need to own them all! If you have tried this primer I’d love to know what you think of it. If you are looking for a primer, check out my primer post.
Shiseido’s Ultimate Sun Protection Lotion Broad Spectrum 50+ looks like a great choice of SPF for those looking to pack only one sunscreen. This is good for face and body. I really enjoy Shiseido’s products and I’m currently testing out some of their sun protection liquid and stick foundations. You really can’t go wrong with this brand for skincare!
Sun Bum is a great brand if you are looking for SPF. I’m trying one of their spray sunscreens right now and liking it but I recently heard that the FDA doesn’t have a specific amount of sunscreen that they require to come out of the nozzle, so there is no standard for spray sunscreens and what will truly protect your skin. This makes me nervous, plus I feel like when I spray sunscreen outside it gets lost in the wind rather than adhering to my body. Still, I love the scent and the little monkey logo is adorable. This is the next product from them that I have my eyes on!
Neutrogena Pure and Free Baby Sunscreen Stick SPF 60 is a product we will definitely be picking up this summer for Jocelyn. I bought the blue version of this for her last summer, and I’m not sure what the difference is. Anyway, it’s water proof, and extremely easy to apply. All I have to do is swipe it on her and she’s covered. This is my preference for applying sunscreen to her face so she doesn’t fight me. I can get her face and ears and neck in about 10 seconds and I’m not freaking out the entire time that I will get something in her eyes. Plus, she giggles when I put it on her so I think it tickles!
Lastly, Tarte’s Brazilliance Skin Rejuvenating Maracuja Face and Body Self Tanner looks very intriguing to me. I’ve heard great things about it and it comes with a mitt which I’ve heard makes self tanning way easier and less likely to streak. I love maracuja oil and I love Tarte so I need to get my hands on this asap! Tarte is also doing a 15% off Memorial Day sale through 5/26 on their website with the code SUNSHINE so shop away! I used to be obsessed with getting a tan in the summer, but in the last 5 years I have not visited a tanning bed and have vowed never to do so again. If I want a tan I go the faux route, and you should too!

I love the IT YSBB CC Cream. It has become my go to. I need a 55 gallon drum of it. 😀 My go to sunscreen is the Neutrogena Sensitive Pure Screen, it is effective and chemical sunscreen free. I can use it on my body and face, it is non greasy and can be worn under makeup, if necessary. 🙂

I saw that Sun Bum logo yesterday for the first time, and I love it! How funny that you should mention it. I need to turn my attitude around on sunscreen – it’s important, and I need to do it! The spray seemed more convenient, but not if you don’t know if you’re getting the right amount of protection…

Since I live in Hawaii, sunscreen is uber important for me… even when I was younger I tried my best to incorporate it because I surfed a lot. Great round up
