splurge on eye makeup remover.jpgaffiliate links

I am all about conserving money where I can. In college, one of the first places I slashed my beauty budget was on cleanser and eye makeup remover. They wash right down the drain or onto a cotton ball, so why bother spending a pretty penny on them? There are some decent makeup removers out there at a small price tag, but as I get older I have come to find that some of my favorite removers are a little on the pricier side and SO worth the splurge.

Below, I have photographed my hand with a waterproof eyeliner swatched heavily upon it. On the left side, I’ve used a drugstore remover, and on the right side, I used my “old faithful”- Clinique’s Take the Day Off Makeup Remover. Such a difference, right?

eye makeup remover.jpgHere are some reasons I’ve found to splurge on a great makeup remover:

1) Starting your makeup with a clean canvas every day makes all the difference. Your makeup won’t look as nice if you have some of yesterday’s mascara still on your lashes when you do your makeup.

2) No tugging. When I have gone with a less than awesome eye makeup remover, I often find myself tugging at my eyelids trying to remove everything. It irritates my eyelids and the tugging will contribute to future wrinkles.

3) No more itchy eyes. I’ve found when I’ve skimped on eye makeup remover it’s made a big difference in how aggravating my allergies are to my eyes. I’m sure leftover makeup contributes to the itch!

I’m sure a lot of you have discovered eye makeup removers that are inexpensive and still fabulous, and I’d love to hear about them! So far, here are my favorites that I have discovered. Click below for more info on each!

I definitely use makeup remover a lot, if you are using eye makeup, it is a live saver and more gentle, totally agree with you here. Fuss free!

Completely agree! Lancome is my all time favorite. Definitely worth the splurge. The only makeup item I will splurge on beside makeup remover is mascara (I have sensitive eyes and there’s only a few I can wear).

I use a drugstore brand because it is budget friendly. I just don’t have the luxury of blowing that kind of money on eye makeup remover. I would if I could. My “cheap stuff” works very well, doesn’t irritate my eyes and is not, as far as I can tell, causing further wrinkling around my eyes. Tho at this point, who can really tell. 😛

I would love to know what budget stuff you are loving! I’ve tried Almay, Neutrogena, and L’Oreal and hated all of them! Maybe I’m not using the right thing though 🙂

Since my eyes are so sensitive, I definitely consider it a splurge worthy product. I use Paula’s Choice Gentle touch (which isn’t really that expensive).

For years, I gave away all my makeup remover that I would get in those GWP bags. I hated that oily stuff. Now, the formulas are so much better, I’m learning to use it again. I recently discovered Napoleon Perdis remover, and it’s LOVE.

I have found some amazing budget-friendly removers but they are few and far between. Having said that, I’ve also tried some super expensive ones and they were shocking for me.

Good points! I used to skimp on makeup removers, but since I started buying the brand name ones, I could clearly see the difference.

I’m using my Lancome Cleansing Water as a remover and I agree for the most part about drugstore removers. That being said Sonia Kashuk and Maybelline but have great offerings in their lines. Especially their duo phase removers.
