I was at the store about a month ago and I couldn’t stop myself from checking out Estée Lauder’s new line of Pure Color High Intensity Lip Lacquers. I bought a lipstick from their brand new line last fall, and got endless compliments on it (Violet Electra), so I was looking for something equally stunning from their line this year.

What I found was a gorgeous gloss by the name of Pure Color High Intensity Lip Lacquer in Wet Plum. This is a shade from their new line of highly pigmented lip glosses and lipsticks. Some characteristics of these glosses, according to Estée Lauder:

The liquid light of lacquer. The full-impact of lipstick.
Richly pigmented lip lacquer creates luscious, wet, brilliant colour.
Provides the full coverage of lipstick with the ultra shine of lacquer.
Creamy and moisture-rich with a lip-caring blend of Vitamins C, E and conditioners.
Lips feel hydrated and comfortable.
Glides on smoothly and evenly with an instant intensity of colour and shine.
6-hour colour brilliance.

In my experience this was a very thick, sticky lacquer that is applied and doesn’t budge. The applicator is a paddle with a center curve that creates a reservoir for the lipgloss to collect in so you can apply the perfect amount each time. The color you get with these is exactly as it appears in the tube. Vibrant, rich, and wet looking.

I wouldn’t wear this while eating because of how sticky it is, but it truly does last for around 5-6 hours. The wet appearance of the gloss remains and has kind of a patent leather finish. This retails at around $26 so it is truly a high end treat and if you indulge…try to find your holy grail color within the collection! The color won’t budge and will last and last so I think you’ll be pretty happy.

This was a major splurge for me, but if you don’t have the funds, I’d suggest trying out the L’Oreal Colour Riche Caresse Wet Shine Stains. The texture is not quite the same and it doesn’t last nearly as long, but you’ll get the same glossy look to your lips while you’re wearing it.
I’ve really enjoyed this color! What do you think?
