Smashbox Cosmetics never lets me down with their new releases. I have two to review for you today- Liquid Halo HD Foundation Broad Spectrum 15 and the Fade to Black Collection Be Legendary Lipstick in Cognac. Both of these are brand new for the Smashbox Fall 2013 collection.
Recently, they came out with a brand new foundation called Liquid Halo HD Foundation Broad Spectrum SPF 15. I wear shade 2, which is described as a warm vanilla for fair/light complexions. My skin is NC20 (MAC shade) and I am usually always the second lightest shade in any foundation range, which proved to be true here too. What originally drew me to this foundation was the $42 price tag, and the Allure Best of Beauty 2013 label. I have lots of foundations, but even most of my really good high end ones don’t cost $42! I think my most expensive foundations are between $30-40 so I wanted to see what all the hype was about.
This foundation has 100% Liquid Light Technology completely evening out skin for a totally natural, luminous finish. Gel-covered pigments mimic photo filters to blur imperfections. The HD formula was developed to keep up with advancing photo technology by giving flawless coverage that’s undetectable to the naked eye.
• Works with all undertones
• Buildable sheer-to-medium coverage
• Sweat and humidity resistant
I applied this foundation with a foundation brush and built up a few layers to get a more medium coverage. I found the formula to be very lightweight and buildable. After several hours, and walking in the rain today it still held up great. It’s kind of chilly today, and I’ve been in and out of the heat by going outside to the chilly air and back inside to the warmer air. The temperature change from Summer to Fall normally makes my skin really reactive and red, but this foundation seemed to keep things under control. It’s also oil-free.
