I’ve been all about lip gloss this summer since I got braces. I need the added moisture and I love that I don’t have to look in the mirror to apply them. They are SO easy to wear and if you pick out the right ones, they can still give you a little added something to your look without being too blah.
I’ve created a guide for you to help you choose the perfect sheer lip shade for yourself below!
Clark’s Botanicals Lip Tint in Alexandra Rose is a lovely sheer rose tint that looks fresh and would go with just about any makeup look. It is a sheer lipgloss that is also pretty thin and slick on the lips. Rather than being a thicker gloss, this is a barely there on the lips feeling. I love that it has some pigment in it though, so I can feel like my lips are wet and hydrated but still look like I’m wearing a bit of makeup. This particular shade is a tribute to spinal cord research.
Vineyard Peach from The Body Shop is ultra shiny, sheer, and has natural flavor. If you haven’t tried the Vineyard Peach line from The Body Shop yet, you need to high tail it on over there and smell it. Their entire peach line is limited edition from what I’ve heard, but it smells like a REAL juicy peach. I don’t know how they so accurately depicted the scent, but I’m in love.
It Cosmetics Vitality Lip Flush in Je Ne Sais Quoi is a lovely shade that glides on like a serum and hydrates and protects and repairs lips while it leaves such a lovely flush behind. I love everything about this shade, and it seems to develop into something a little brighter after a few seconds of being on the lips!
Diamond Girl Detective is a lip plumping gloss that is absolutely and completely clear. It’s literally crystal clear and leaves my lips SO shiny which makes them look a little fuller. This also makes my lips very soft and hydrated, which is a big win!
Josie Maran’s Love Your Lips Hydrating Lipstick in Happy Honey is a very lovely nude pink shade that I’m loving. It applies sheer, and has buildable coverage. It is a great nude lip shade for fall as well. There is a pigmented core to the lipstick, and a hydrating balm is wrapped around it. Your lips get all the benefits as it glides on. Josie Maran’s argan oil products are amazing, and her lip quench is my holy grail product to use before bed at night!
Fuchsia-Ristic Sexy Mother Pucker Gloss Stick by Soap & Glory couldn’t be more perfect if it tried. It comes in a twist up crayon applicator which I love, applies sheer which eliminates the need for a mirror during application, and smells and tastes like chocolate. Winning all around! The balm like feel is also very hydrating to the lips.
Elizabeth Arden’s Beautiful Color Luminous Lip Gloss in Coral Kiss takes the cake for my favorite gloss this summer. It is absolutely gorgeous, and although the name describes it as coral, I find it to be more of a nude pink on my lips. The applicator has a contour to it, which allows more product to be trapped in the wand, so you don’t have to dip in more than once to coat your lips. It also has a very convenient side mirror built in to the applicator. The shade is long wearing, makes my lips look plumper, has shimmer, and keeps my lips feeling SO soft. It also has a certain scent I can’t place that reminds me of vanilla cupcakes or some other pastry. It’s not an overpowering fragrance and is a welcome departure from the scent of many department store lip glosses, which seem synthetic or chemical-like to me. There is also no stickiness at all! I highly suggest picking this one up.
Not only do I really love the Elizabeth Arden lip gloss, but so does Ashlee Simpson! She was recently spotted at the Elizabeth Arden Beautiful Color Lip Lounge in Hollywood testing some of these babies out for herself! How cool! I used to be obsessed with Ashlee Simpson back when she first got pregnant with her son. I thought her and Pete Wentz were so adorable together and so cute that she named her kid after a Jungle Book character.
Anyway…. what is your favorite sheer lip gloss this summer or would you rather spring for something a little brighter? Share below!
