I was recently introduced to Besame Cosmetics through Beauty Army– a monthly sample box that carries a lot of indie products that I had never heard of- this brand being one of them. Immediately, I was drawn to this brand because of the gorgeous vintage packaging, reasonable prices, and multi use products. Being a busy momma, I am always looking for something that I can use on my lips and my cheeks that will make me look like I’m ready for the day without a whole lot of effort. Enter- Crimson Cream Rouge.
In the picture above, I am wearing it on my lips and my cheeks! It goes on very pigmented, so use just a tiny bit or you’ll look clowny. If you do happen to apply too much to your cheeks, you can apply a little foundation over top and blend it in. I think it gives a very natural flush to the cheeks! I also like the way it translates on the lips as a bold red lip but still manages to look look maintenance. In my every day life running errands I don’t need (or want) a show-stopping red lip but it is nice to have a little pop of color that’s not too overkill.
The product is housed in this gorgeous little tin, (which isn’t really that little at 0.26 oz). The tin is recyclable and has beautiful flowers on it! The only thing I don’t absolutely love about the packaging is that I had a hard time getting the lid to the tin back on the product a couple times. But that could be because I’m kind of a klutz too.
If you can’t tell from the look of the product and from the swatch, it’s a very blue toned red so it’s flattering to many skin tones as well as being a tooth whitening formula. If you smile, your teeth won’t look yellow. It’s also very moisturizing and long lasting. I tested this out while I was shopping and running errands, and despite having a bottle of water it lasted around 5 hours. When I looked in the mirror it had faded evenly and there was none of that dreaded ring around the mouth when the product fades around the mouth but stays on the outer edges. I was very happy with the way it wore!
This product is 0.26 oz for $22. Other similar products I’ve tried include Benefit’s Benetint which is $20 for 0.05 oz and Garden Botanika’s Cherry Lip and Cheek Stain which is $18 for 0.09 oz. I have to say I prefer the formula of this and the price is right. I would repurchase this for sure if I wasn’t such a makeup hoarder, but I’m sure I’ll never run out!
Crimson Cream Rouge is a great multipurpose product that I would recommend. Check them out on Facebook HERE and follow them on Twitter for daily tips and more! @besamegirl
