Becca came out with some new products recently for Spring, and besides my undying love for this brand, they had to come out with purple things! Purple is my love language, so I knew I’d have to get my hands on these things. We have a primer, a highlighter, and a powder.

The First Light Filter Face Primer is so pretty to look at in the bottle (it’s purple!) but it applies sheer. Online it says there is a citrus scent, but honestly, I’ve been so stuffed up for the past month or longer that I haven’t noticed one.

Cool Light Technology softly scatters translucent, cool violet light to brighten and even out imperfections. Mineral-rich spring water, prickly pear flower, and sodium hyaluronate capture moisture to hydrate and revive skin. Ginger energizes the complexion and the fresh citrus notes create an awakening experience.

…Honestly? It feels really nice on my skin and might give me the slightest boost in brightening, but I don’t notice a difference between it and the original Backlight Filter Face Primer. When I was checking it out on Becca’s Facebook page, I noticed that they were using a model with the most gorgeous dark skin, and WOW! It really made her features pop and she absolutely glowed. I think someone with deeper skin tones than mine will appreciate this more.

Next up is the Soft Light Blurring Setting Powder. You can buy the Kabuki Brush to go along with this as well.

Soft Light Blurring Powder goes beyond the benefits of a traditional setting powder to impart the ultimate dream filter. This feather-light, micro-fine powder is infused with ceramic microspheres that softly scatter light to blur the look of imperfections while smoothing and evening the complexion. The universally flattering shade, Golden Hour, sets makeup, prolongs wear, and refreshes any look for a perfected complexion from day to night.

Golden Hour is a gorgeous powder that I really appreciate but it is pretty warm toned. It does go on sheer but I think anyone with super fair skin is not going to find a match in this. I really love the way it works as a setting powder but also has a bit of a sheen to it that makes me look like I’m glowing. I would say skip the kabuki brush if you’re wanting to pair it with this powder, and use something with less dense of bristles if you can. I actually like the brush but it’s stiff and all of the bristles move at the same time to the same place when I use it, so it’s hard to diffuse the powder everywhere. I have to be careful not to place too much powder in one spot with it. Maybe it’s a matter of playing around and finding my sweet spot with the brush. I’m still trying to work with it!
Last but not least, we have the Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed in Prismatic Amethyst. Look familiar? I think it looks a lot like the Rose Quartz highlighter from last fall that I scooped up. When I saw this launching I immediately purchased it on Sephora’s website. Purple highlighter, gotta have.

It’s enriched with color-shifting pigments that reflect and refract light for a multi-faceted, holographic chameleon effect. Prismatic Amethyst is infused with pale gold, violet, and rose pearls to create a unique, iridescent sheen that shifts as you move.

This highlighter is duo-chrome, but I’ve found you can wear it in a subtle way or build it up to your heart’s content. It’s super creamy like the Rose Quartz and doesn’t have an overwhelming amount of shimmer. I think it flatters my skin well. If I wet my fan brush and go over my skin with it, the intensity builds yet it doesn’t get too bold. I typically keep my makeup toned down but I love the idea that if I keep building I can be bolder with this. If you plan on wearing this in a more natural way and you already have Rose Quartz, I don’t think you need to spring for this one as well because they are really similar! But as a lover of all things purple, I had to get the amethyst shade. L-R: Primer, Powder, HighlighterIn the picture above, I’m wearing all three of these products. I really like the highlighter most of all, because I am a sucker for a gorgeous highlight and Becca just does them so well. I think the more my skin tone deepens when summer arrives, the more I’ll be living for that Golden Hour powder though.

I love a good makeup launch. Becca nails it yet again! Are you going to be picking anything up? Share with me in the comments below!
